play in the front end...

I was realizing that the lower radius rod seems to be sloppy where it connects to the trailing arm. is it supposed to be or is it time for bushings? anyone make nicer aftermarket bushings? if so who and where can I get them if they are needed. it is on my 03 viper by the way. thanks guys :rocks:
 
No its not supposed to be sloppy. Personally i would go with the yamaha bushings, as they have very high quality control specs. Little expensive, but probably worth it in the long run. Otherwise i think dennis kirk and HPE might have front end bushing kits.
 
I think there is a post in the tech section on how to tighten up the front end before setting camber and toe. It is a pretty good post. I would say if there is enough play in the front end to post it here it is probably time for some new bushing. Any sled with 3000+ miles riding style dependent that it wouldn't hurt to replace them. The biggest issue is that this is a non-greaseable part, and a spot where water and grime can collect hence putting rust on the steel bushing insert, causing it to wear out even faster. I replaced mine and put grease zerks in to put grease it fairly frequently. I got my replacement parts from MAXXPERFORMANCE. They have pretty good kits. And I think they even have a bushing kit of there own that is made of, spelling wrong, Dlyatron a very hard material. These are a very nice replacement part. Check out there web site they have them there. Also check ebay I just saw some listed there as well. You luck they were cheap as hell but closed two minutes ago. Well just my two cents worth.

yeah, have nearly 4000 miles. thing still looks like new though :) I did some looking around and found that sno-tek made some too. anyone know anything about them at all? dont mind paying for high quality, want stuff that is nice and lasts. actually why I got yamaha to begin with ;)
 
I like AdvantEdge's bushing kits, but they are currently out of stock so you will have to wait until they make a new batch.
 
ding, what are their advantages (no pun intended :) ) and I wont be doing anything till spring or summer anyway, I am broke right now. just figured there are WAY more people on here right now lol. thanks

I took mine apart in the spring and put some synthetic grease. I hope that will stop the bushing from wearing out. I switched to a Synthetic waterproof grease. That stuff is golden.
