My sled is a 1998 SRX 700. Whenever the sled sits for a couple of weeks or more, it takes maybe 10 or 15 pulls to get it to fire and then frequently one or more plugs will foul out. Two weeks ago I filled it with fresh gas and installed 3 new plugs. Today, it took 10 or 12 pulls to get it to fire and then 2 of the plugs fouled out. I installed 2 new plugs and started it. After a short distance the remaining plug which hadn't fouled previously, fouled out. The machine will run fine and start fine now until it sets for a period of a couple of weeks or more and then I will have to go thru the same ritual again. I don't know if it is related or not but I also have a problem getting the machine to idle. Whenever I stop I have to hit the choke to get it to idle. I have went up 1 size on the pilots and have adjusted nearly all the way out to no avail. I have some # 47.5's on order to try that. I use BR9ECS plugs, have a cold air kit with a gutted air box, new V-Force reeds, a Tempaflow and milled heads. The sled runs very well except for this problem. Any ideas you can give me will be appreciated.
the choke circuit in the srx models is calibrated on the rich side to ease starting in extemely cold temps.full choke should only be applied sparingly or the engine my flood easily.as soon as the engine starts the choke should be turned off and only "blipped" enough to keep the engine running. if plug fouling is still a problem, the pilot air screw position should be verified (1.0 turn out) and can be turned in 1/4 turn on problem machines to help the chance of plug fouling.

fouling no idle
sounds like your carbs need cleaned, sometimes when they sit the fuel will gum up and the idle circuit is the first to plug cause it's the smallest diameter, then it will idle on the extra fuel provided by the choke/enrichment circuit but will die when choke is off. your plugs should be cardboard colored, what are your altitude and main jets? also check air ways for obstructions also make sure you enrichment/choke is not sticking on the carbs even though the lever returns.
