What are some of you guys running for jet size and needle position on 700 nonvalved triples with aaen pipes? Ride alot off trail in 5500 to 8000rpm range. Aaen says 147.5 across the board and needles in 3. What do you think? Just got home for the weekend and need to get this puppy ready for next week. Thanks alot!!! ;)!

My instructions from AAEN say on size richer on the main jet. With max RPM at 9000-9200.
They're in WI so I would think altitude makes a difference depending on where you are.

sounds like you got her running hard, are you running that50/40 helix?
what are you turning it at?
 
Got the pipes in the 98 vmax 700 and took her for a 5 mile ride this afternoon. With the needle clip in three she"s pig rich from 4000 to 6000 rpms and then cleans up just like it use to with stock exhaust untill I dropped the needles to clip position 2. Temp was about 35 degrees so I wasnt too surprized with the burgling. What did surprize me was the color of the plugs after running higher rpms for a length of time. Light cardboard color, I was expecting a darker plug with the warm temps. Aaen says main jet size one larger than stock. They sent me 147.5 across the board to replace the 145 and 2 143.5 stock jets. Pilots are stock. I am wondering if I need to go higher on the main jets for lower temps and if it ok to drop the needles back down to clean up the low end. Clutching to my surprize was spot on pulling 9000 rpms. Any advice or anyone else running these pipes? Thanks
 
i ran these pipes for three years on my '97 SX 700, and i liked them a lot. When we first got it it had stock jetting in it, but the PTO cylinder didn't like that. We put 150'sin it so that we wouldn't have to worry about it anymore on cold days or anything, and it performed flawlessly for several thousand miles. These pipes are not very finicky at all, and running a little on the rich side doesn't really seem to take away any performance at all. I honestly have no clue where we had the needles set, it was done so long ago that i just can't remember, and my note-taking skills weren't quite so thorough then :o| They ran best for us right around 9100 rpm, and this thing was a ROCKET once i got the clutching dialed in. Quick question,

Why would AAEN say one size higher on the main jet, but suggest 147.5 across the board? Isn’t the PTO suppose to be larger than the other two. So, shouldn't it be 147.5, 145,145 on the three carbs?

I realize temp and altitude affect the settings, but shouldn't the PTO carb be larger?
 
i have a set of 150's, but its probably not worth it to ship them across the border for how cheap they are. Do you have a dealer nearby? pretty much any dealer should be able to get you mikuni jets
