The Mod went tonight, SRX going in the morning. It brings a tear to my eye......Better go order an 06 tomorrow to chear me up. ===SRXSRULE===

HEY, that one isn't a tripple. Or did you mean all three. 3 sleds 10 cylinders=800hp. LOL Maxdlx

Didnt mean three cylinders......But 3 sleds. There is alot of hp setting there. lol
Man, A year ago I sure didnt think I would be riding all 4-srtoke! I just love the gas-n-go simplicity. Going to the dealer today to snow check the Apex Mt. Fuel injection will be nice. ===SRXSRULE===

Congrats!!! That's going to be a nice addition to your garage...looks like the end of an era!

Damn....I've owned an SRX since summer of 97. I'm going to miss that sneaky fast triple triple. Time to clean out my 2-stroke parts. ===SRXSRULE===

i agree, love the viper, but wouldnt mind if it needed replacement at the end of the season :) them are some sweet looking sleds you...errr..... HAD there ;) I still want an srx. was yours all stock??

The SRX was a nice sled and very fast. Its just a shame that Yamaha put so little suspension under it.
I still say that a Viper with triple pipes is just as good if not better than an SRX. The SRX would corner flatter on smooth trails but once the trails get rough the SRX is not the sled you want to be on. Thats not to say that the Viper had anything spectacular in terms of suspension (it was far from being best in class) but it certainly had more than the SRX.
I would be very interested to see someone put a 700 SRX motor in the Gensis Xtreme chassis (RX-1 chassis). I think that even using stock Yamaha components it would be an amazing machine...

in my opinion it's easier to make an SRX ride nice than it is to make a viper reliably fast.

Rules, cheers to the new sled! I understand, time for something new, you've certainly played the 2-stroke game and where good at it, time to learn a new one I think. time to bring the boost?

My SRX was long traveled and it road great, still slightly heavier in the front end then a piped viper in the rough stuff. BUT.....ask me how many times I blew up my piped Viper and how many times I blew up my SRX's. I'll give ya hint.....the viper was many, many times and the SRX (all 4 I owned) Is a number less then 1. Plus some of my SRX's had alot more done to them then my Viper did. It is just a bullet proof motor. ===SRXSRULE===

yeah, I rode a 97 600sx for a bit over 9k miles, I loved the suspension it had when it was smooth, and really didnt mind it once it was a little rough. always on pretty well groomed trails so it didnt hurt that bad. I think the srx was fast partly because of the low suspension, kinda how race sleds always sit low... :) just dont try and run a ditch with one lol!

Hey SRXSRULE - did you loose any top end or weight transfer when you long traveled your srx? I'm thinking of doing the Pioneer long travel this summer.

Thanks

Actually, you gain weight transfer, almost too much at times. I had Bender rods set close to minimum transfer and could still pull 3 ft wheelies. As for speed loss...yeah, it takes maybe 5 mph off top end. I could still hit 120 on the speedo with the long travel and a 1.5" track. If you do the rear, there is a guy on e-bay they sells custom front shock mounts for 25.00. It raises the front end about 1.5" to make the track set level on the ground and reduce some of the transfer. ===SRXSRULE===

actually, I had the same long travel kit on my 97 600sx, and it was exactly as rules said, too much at times! had to shorten the limiter straps considerably to keep it so I could go around corners. the nice thing was that it didnt really get tippy at all, keapt that really sweet "on-rails" feel to it :)

Hey SRXSRULE, why do you think it is that you blew up all those Vipers but didnt blow up a single SRX?
Is the SRX's engine interally stronger than the Viper?
