Gas gauge malfunction....

I have a '00 SRX 700 that has a gas gauge malfunction. When I start it up, it goes from all the way past empty to all the way past full and sticks. It never budges from full until I turn it off and then it goes back down to empty. Anyone else have this problem? Do you think I need to replace the fuel sending unit? If so, does anyone have one that works? Thanks a lot for your help.

You need a new sender. Its either "open" or shorted to ground. Dont know with out looking at a wiring diagram. This is a ~slight~ chance it coudl be a wiring problem, but they really dont have much trouble with wiring in that part of the sled. Many people parting out stuff...all senders are the same from 97+ ===SRXSRULE===
 
The sending unit is what I was leaning towards replacing. I would take the tank off of your hands, but I really don't need the whole thing. I'll keep my eyes open for a sending unit around here. Thanks for your help.

I'll sell the sending unit for 20 bucks shipped. I just don't want the tank left laying around. LOL Maxdlx
