97 600 twin smart carbs

I am looking for any imformation on how to get the smart carbs on a 97 venture 600 twin to work properly. The sled doesn't run properly. One time it will go 85 the next only 50. Totally inconcistant. The carbs have been cleaned many times, the clutch has been looked at, i have no answers. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think its rings i've checked compression a couple times and it was good. i've changed the coil and plug caps also. Theres 2600 miles on it. It feels like it drops a cylnder when youre on it. Maybe theres a possibility the carbs are trying to adjust.
 
best solution I've found to the smart carbs (if you cant repair them) is to swap 'em out for a set of carbs off another 600 twin, take the electronics from those carbs and tie 'em up in a little ziplock bag, let them do there thing, just don't let 'em effect your mixture while they're at it.

there IS some info online about these carbs tho, I'll see what I can dig up for you. I'll post back up if/when I find it.
 
ok sounds like the skinny is that there's a couple sensors that need to be calibrated, mainly the throttle position sensor and the elevation/pressure sensor.

aside from these sensors, they can still have all the normal problems a carb can have, from jetting, to float height. could even be something like a chipped read or a pinched fuel line!

the other thing to know about smart carbs is that they are insanely sensitive to water, run a fair amount of gas line anti-freeze with them for good results.

those things just seem like nightmares. Yamaha's dont do too bad without altitute compensators
