1971 Yamaha ss433

Just wanted to share my before and after pictures of my 71 ss433.

Got plenty of information from this site a few years ago to modify or my 00 sx700r but I've now got the bug to restore the old classics and glad to see that we now have an active vintage forum.

Next project is a 75 GPX 433 that I want to restore to original shape and I'd like to find another one to go vintage racing with. (grass or ice, not sure yet. Maybe both)

Excellent job, ...where did you get the seat cover (hard to come by)?

The seat was redone with the closest vinyl that I could find. I'm still keeping an eye out for a NOS seat cover.

Love it. I bought one used, a year old with my first savings when I was but a lad. I previously put over 600 miles on a 71 sl 338 and wanted to beat up on my buddies. I lived in a small town in northern Alberta and this sled was the fastest sled in town. The first sled that beat me was 73 free air 440, but untill that time and for long after there was no other 440 fan made that would keep up. In the years to come it got an aluminum SR chassis, SR deep lug track, SR clutch spring that engaged at 5000 RPM, ski speaders and aluminum SRX skis. Wish I had it back, I'd bolt in a phazer engine and go hunting again! Enjoy it. Blessings. G.

Update on collection

Plan on keeping them. (As you will see in the latest photo 71 ss433, 75 GPX 433 and 76 SRX 340)

Got my 6 year old daughter into it - check out the Barbie Bravo.

I had a local guy contact me because, he knew I was into sleds....... He's cleaning his father in laws house out and in the basement, there is a complete, straight 1971 SS396 in which he wants $200.00. Are these of any interest to vintage guys and can you find parts ? Thanks !

Chuck,are you kidding. If you don't want it, I'll take it. Gas Tanks without cracks are the hardest part,and a NOS seat cover too.
