hello,i have `88 exciter im going to restore to make a stealthy sleeper.
i love watching the old iron beat or hang with the newer sleds.
so my question is were do i get some porting and head work done?
and any other ideas to help this sled rip would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,jeff

depends on how wild u want to go..yamaha (canada) offered an "update port spec" for them,I don't have the specs but u should be able to get them through dealers that have been in business since 87...it also includes shortening the Y pipe 20 mm also.you will need to clutch for 7500-7750 if i remember correct , i can't think of the jet spec... made low 90`s h.p...otherwise bender offered race port with 44`s and twin pipes that made around 120...but it would be set up for that day (race ) only..the previous set up was not that hard to tune ,but watch the clutch bushings cause some of them hard a harmonic vib around 7750.

I rode one years ...years ago maybe 1992 that a friend had set up with a twin pipes..thing was a rocket

we had an exciter at a our radar runs this year that ran 121 in 1000 feet. That thing looked awesome too, all polished, black hood.
