To put a 1.25" track on a SRX, do you have to remove the tunnel protectors? (the camoplast track has the tall lugs over top of the track clip/slider area). Thanks!

Either remove the protectors or trim the track. Some say you can let it wear in but I personally didn't care for that option... looked like a lot of wearing to be done.
Yes, tunnel protectors have to go. But it will be well worth it for general trail riding.

How about for drag racing?? 1/8 mile? which track would be better? 1.25" or a 1.5" finger track>?

I'll be taking them off tonight! Thanks, you all saved me from loosing some needed tread! I'd rather take off the protectors than shave my precious traction off!

Prophet, you're really not shaving off traction... at least none that you'd notice. Just a 1" wide by 1/8" deep in the area right above the track clips.

I know. But why shave off anything if you don't have to. The protectors are already off, and I can't wait to try 'er out!

I figured you did, but you never know...
If I had it to do over again I'd take mine out and run it unstudded as having the studs only about 1/16 - 1/8" over the lugs doesn't do much. If you're coming off a stock track you're gonna love it!

I cut my slots out over the windows to accommodate the tunnel protectors. While I was at it, I cut the center lugs down a 1/4" and put 144 1 1/4" studs down the center. I get way more traction than a stock track and still have studs for ice and hard pack, which is most of my riding in the lower midwest. The outside lugs are still 1 1/4". It is more work than most want to do, but it is the best of both worlds for me. If you're riding in areas where you need studs for control or braking, you will never get used to riding without them (not to mention the safety issues).
