First off Chris and John. These guys do an incredible job not only for Yamaha but also for the image of sledding as a whole. Both are extremely professional, knowledgeable and above all riders! It takes a lot of “balls” to invite a bunch of unknown guys to ride the only 06’s in Canada…good job!!

The TY guys were awesome. It was great to finally meet some of you guys and to see others again. Like John said it was like riding with your old friends…we need to do that again!! You could tell the TY guys were there to ride, and ride we did!

Now, for the best part...the sleds. I honestly was expecting an evolution of the RX chassis and a Vector with bar risers. I was wrong. The new sleds totally blew me away. The new riding position is so natural you don’t notice it...until you ride an 05. I love the RX but after riding the Apex it felt like a 94 vmax…low and deep in the seat. I absolutely love the new position. It instantly gives you a more “in control” feel. You can easily switch from the attack position for fast twisties riding to a more stretched out position for long straights. There was a slight difference in the seat feel between the 3 Apex’s…I got used to them easily…I would assume this is more prototypeness then not. The Ohlins shock is amazing in the GT…I would actually adjust my suspension if it was that easy to adjust. I found all of the Apex’s (Apei? J) cornered extremely flat. This was a sled you didn’t have to get used to the cornering style. It was so good and predicable you don’t notice it…you actually have to remember that other sleds pick up the inside ski. The Nytro, well, that thing is a riot! I had a chance to actually open this thing up on a hilly section and it was a blast. It responds easily to body English, a tug on the bars lifts the nose easily. The initial feeling I had when I climbed on was that it would be tippy on the trail. Wrong. This thing also corners flat, very much like a viper.

For my money though, and this was a hard one, it’s the Attack. That 136 just adds a little more traction and off-trail floatation that I like. The longer track, IMO, did not hold it back in the tight stuff but adds a lot of needed track out in the fluff or when climbing…which I like to do.

There are so many other things about these sleds that truly can only be realized by riding them…Its hard to come up with words to describe everything.

You SRX guys need to give the APEX a try...awesome acceleration, very snappy, handles as flat as any Yamaha I've ever ridden. AND it eats bumps like nothing.

Well, i guess I'm the first to respond with OMG are you kidding? Why you gotta temp people like this LOL? I can't wait to try one!!! I just hope that the masses agree with your assessment. It would be nice to have Yammies at the top or at least receive more respect of their acheivements. I for one am very proud of Yamaha's bold decision to go 100%, well, 99.9% 4 stroke. It takes HUGE balls and tremendous dedication to dive into such a "iffy" venture, as said by many. If there is a company out there that can acheive the unexpected, it's Yamaha. Screw the naysayers, all companies produce solid products, but when you sit back and really analyze what's being done and who's doing it, Yamaha is very impressive with their individuality and vision for a true snowmobile of tomorrow...Amen my brothas!!!
