I borrowed a friends 2001 SXR600 seat today to put on the Venture for my trip with the old man this week-end(going to Dorset, ON). Anyway, the SX seat tipped the scales at 16 lbs but had the tool kit in it and was wet from last week-ends trip to Parry Sound (I couldn't go  ). The Venture seat was 19 lbs without the tool kit. I think the SX seat may be 2 lbs lighter if dry, so that netted me around 5 lbs. The biggy is the backrest assembly. That thing is 24 lbs all by itself. I didn't take the tunnel braces off because I don't know if my wife will be getting a sled in the fall(finances) so my conversion to a crossover Vmax will have to wait. The plan will be to obtain a red seat and hood, drop the rear tunnel reinforcment(steel?) brackets, possibly 144" rail extensions and a 1.25 Ripsaw. I do all trail riding at the moment but want to start branching off to include some powder.
