Does anybody know if the reed gaskets are re-usable on a 2000 SX700R or do they have to be replaced. I plan on doing the reed notch tomorrow and want to know if I need to pick-up new gaskets. Thanks,

You can reuse your gaskets if they are not damaged.

yes you can definately reuse them if they are in good shape when you take them off.

generally not a problem, just to be safe, keep them matched and indexed to each reed block and re-torque to factory spec. don't overtighten. 8lb-ft sticks out in my mind for some reason.

Good point. Keep things clean and indexed. Just a little added insurance.

Thanks everyone,
did them these weekend and it worked so well I ended coming out of a corner to hard and ended up in the rubarb patch. Luckily, it was just my pride that was hurt.

The rubber stayed down and I stayed on. I went 3 feet off the trail into the rubarb. Luckily, it wasn't time for a mid-trail track inspection. It's amazing how easy it is to inspect the track when it's upside down.
In all seriousness, the reed notch and changing the needles to the 2 1/2 position made an incredible difference on throttle response. It used to be 3/4 throttle coming out of the corners now it is 1/3 throttle.
Thanks for the tips.
