Driver: 64 years old 220lbs (two new knees 3 years ago)
Sled: 2000 Vmax 600 Dlx 12000KM or 7500 miles
Cash Available for upgrades: approx $2000 CAN or $1600 US
Riding style: Groomed Trail only
He will be putting a set of plastic skis on this machine this year and it does not affect the budget.
Option #1: Expert X
Option #2: M-10
Option #3: Aluminum Kayabas and 1.25 Ripsaw
Option #4: ?
He's looking for a little softer ride when it gets choppy out there. By no means does he do any ditchbanging but does keep up with the kids at cruising speed. If we start getting silly, he'll fall back some.
What do you think the best bang for the buck is here?? Do you have any other suggestions??
Thanks

i would look into a boss High rise, extra wide flattop seat, it almost acts like a new skid , plus it will get his knee below his hips and that will take a lot of pressure off his knees and it really feels like a better ride ....you could find one for about 350-400 usd.
May be out of the budget, but upgrading to a Vector would be a great choice. He might need to find another $1000 - $2000 to make this happen.

I'm pretty sure I would take the X out of the equation. They are meant to be beat on..
Find a good set of used ohlins rears. You won't believe the difference. Maxdlx
I think some one on here has a M-10 ohlins for sale. that would be the ticket. Maxdlx

Looks like you may have called it. He's looking at 05 and 06 Vector ER's. Decided he wasn't getting any younger I guess. Dealer offered him $2500 CAN for his '00 Vmax 600 Dlx (excellent condition, 12,000 KM) so I'll give him $3500 CAN and viola, sled for my wife.

Haven't heard from the Aunt yet if it's there or not. Expect she'll call or email when it shows, I'll pm you when I hear. What do you want for the Vector??? It's an ER ??? Don't know if dad will want to tangle with bringing it over the border or not but I will mention it.

It is the ER model, it has all our alum light weight parts on it. I would like to sell it as is for $7300.00 or I will put it back with all stock parts for $6500.00. If you want pic's I will post.

Well, the old guy bought an 06 Vector GT in red yesterday. I'm soooo jealous. Of course this might mean I get some seat time. Hmmmmm.....
