18 tooth gear failure
I would avoid using an 18 tooth gear. I have not seen one fail but read about it. The 18 tooth gear does not have much steel between the spline hole and the gear outer edge. The power transfer is so extreme and the gear so small that they have been known to fracture. Given the way I know you are going to use this sled, I would not go any smaller than 19 tooth. Gear failure, like chain failure is really expensive.

Those small top gears also tend to be inefficient. Also if you are staying with a 136" track, you can gear a little taller then most mountian sleds. This because a 136" will have a LOT more track spin than a 151 incher. A good rule of thumb, is to gear down a tooth, for each track size you go up. This would be for riding at the same elevation, you currently ride at.
