What are your guys opinions about cans on these SRX's. I know lots of people have them but do they choke a little ponies off the sled.
 
Can it. The weight savings MORE than makesup for the minimal (not noticable) power loss. Also sound sweet.
 
I have a couple of cans if you are interested. One is a Dynoport can style and the other is a Maxx Perf suitcase style. Let me know.
 
Danger Dog is your dynoport can mint. I don't like to buy anything used that is junk just to have it, I would just buy new. Post up a pic of it if you can. Thanks
 
Oh I forgot to ask are those transfer rods worth purchasing or not. I think with long and enough picks with a little lack of transfer it should hook.
 
what year srx? If its a 98 or 99 it wont hook at all, even with picks. If its a 00 or newer, it will hook somewhat, but will hook A LOT better with rods.
 
I put a mbrp can on my 00 SRX and noticed about a 10 mph top end loss.I ran in exactly the same conditions with and without. After about 3 or 4 hundred miles they get really loud. I cut my can apart to see why and the packing was saturated with oil from miles of riding. I still have the can, I would just need to weld it back together. I will sell it to you for 45 dollars.
 
it really is unfortunate that none of the aftermarket silencers can increase or even maintain the power of this beast. They sound so good. :o|
 
I loved the sound of the mbrp. I was going to repack it with stainless steel wool so that it would drain better and still muffle a little noise.
 
Yamaholic22 the SRX is an 01. I'm picking it up in two weeks. Brand new as I had posted earier in another thread. The reason I'm asking stuff like this is because I've never owned or had any time running these sleds; let alone ever a yammy. I know these sleds fly when fine tuned. I've been on the twin bandwagon for many years now, and after riding with a few guys with big triples....HTG 1080 229HP I want one. I already now how to make this thing go with ever doing any tinkering with them; thanks to a friend who has spent years on these things. I had mentioned before it takes a real strong XCR800 to run with his SRX. Just throwing some questions out there for the many others that own these. My buddy is running his with cut-heads,on the verg of race-porting, countless hours of accurate clutching, reeds, tranfer rods and bender can. I think theres more but not 100% sure off the top of my head. Thanks
 
if you are going for the performance aspect of the sled, you are definately going to want to put transfer rods on it to maximize the sleds abilities off the line. Most races are lost and won based on the success of the holeshot, and the srx's usually aren't quite up to par with the other big iron, but can easily be made better ;)!
 
You know I run MBRP on a couple of my SRX's - this year I tried a Hauck can - it had a little "brighter" sound over the MBRP, but I can honestly say I did not notice any loss of power throughout the power band - was also using a different clutch set-up and different track than before too - just my 2 cents
 
i'm not saying that you guys will necessarily notice a seat of the pants difference in the power after putting on a can, but put it on a dyno and take a look at the losses for yourself. If you dont believe it thats fine, its not hurting us any. Its information, take it or leave it.
