I was wondering what people use to clean and protect your sled?

1- do you use Armorall on the black belly pan, dash, fuel tank and seat.
2- My tunnel is a mess at the foot rests and running boards. I know you can ploish it but how do you clean it first (do you remove the seat?).

Any help would be great. ;)!
 
Here is my 2 cents - I use simple green on the engine compartment and anywhere there is oil residue - I use sled bright by bio kleen on the belly pan for the black exhaust residue - Meguires yellow wax on the hood and Meguires vinyl/leather cleaner on the seat - works good for me
 
i use armor all on those things mentioned. I use Armorplate for the cowl or sometimes Pledge, seems to work fine. I polish the tunnel with Mothers and all the other alumuminum parts.
 
Meguires Gold Class wax is the best, it is in a class of its own! Armorall on the seat and other soft plastic/rubber components, keeps them soft and pliable, so they don't fade, dry out, and crack. I use brake cleaner to clean the exhaust from the underside of the sled. Engine brite to clean under the hood. Works great, sled looks mint!
 
i dont just spray and rinse, it wont get the heavy deposits off (if you have any, pipes leave a lot of oil on the front of the engine for me) Just use a tooth brush or something similar to scrub the heavy deposits a little bit, and after that just rinse off and it works like a charm!
 
All of the above.. But for quik easy clean ups between serious scrubb and polish I use a product by Honda called " Pro Honda Cleaner and polish" Works great , even on helmet and shield .
 
After each trip or weekend of riding I power wash the entire sled (including both clutches) with a hotsy. Then use a blow gun and dry the entire sled. Then spray the hood,dash/widnshield,plastic, and seat with Honda Spray Polish. Then spray the entire engine bay and suspension with Silicone Spray. Close atention to cover all aluminum and bolts/nuts. Then...grease all fittings to push out any water. In a seasons time I go through about 3-4 cans of polish and 4-5 cans of silicone. The spray polish also reples dust and makes clean-up very easy. Never use Wax on them. ===SRXSRULE===
 
Don't use armorall on the seat, at least not on an 03 viper, I made that mistake and that sucker is like a greased pig afterwards. :o| #$%&*
 
yea it does make is slippery, but that wears off quick. Also, it should definately be armor-all'd before storage so that the seat does not dry out and crack. The armor keeps it nice and soft and flexible.
 
thanks everone, one last question?

the side of the seat is dirty (from my boots, black in the blue area and on the yamaha lago) what do you use to clean this or will the armorall remove this?

the armorall probably wont remove it, but the amorall cleaning wipes probably will. Otherwise maybe some detergent and a brush should allow you to scrub it off. As a last resort, a little brake cleaner should take it off, but dont let the brake cleaner sit on there too long or it may discolor the seat.
 
Honda Polish, an excellent product, will clean the white yamaha logo on the seat. At least it has worked on my sled(not sure if its the same stain/dirt). I wouldn't recommend applying to the seating area as it is sled it's slippery on corners - oops.

you also should use an aluminum sealer after polishing the tunnel,like something from alcoa this will keep it from oxidizing,or at the very least slow down the process.
