Hey what windshield are you using on your Viper: size, color, brand.
What worked best for wind protection: stock verse cobra?
thanks

I use a mid hieight transparent chrome by cobra on my '02 viper ER. Really like this shield! Not quite as good protection as stock, but lots better then low one. The best protection is from '03 and newer stock shields, as it is a bit higher then the stock '02 windshield. You can always paint your stocker if you want the best protection. I painted my stock one and it worked fine.

The '03 or newer stock shield offers much better wind protection than the '02, although the '02 version was still offered as an alternate part number.

'02 windshield part# 8EK-K7210-00-00 (mid height)
'03+ windshield part# 8FB-K7210-00-00 (mid/tall height)

I am not aware of any tall windshields for the Viper offered by any of the aftermarket companies.

I have the low black one from Yamaha, I think it looks great but the wind protection sucks.

Currently, I have the stock 03 and its good. But compared to med cobra I had on my old sx it is narrower.

How does the med cobra transparent crome?

Go Yamaha LOW, for the "cool" factor. :WayCool: Black, blue or chrome, just put on one more layer to keep yourself warm

i think the chrome ones look awesome on the red vipers. Rx1yama18 has one on his viper and i think the wind protection is pretty good with the cobra chrome windshield, and i am 6'4".

My brother has a low yellow chrome on his MXZ. Looks great. Can you get blue chrome one for the Viper?

I don't think anyone makes a blue chrome windshield for the viper....that would be sweet looking if they did! I tried the tall OEM windshield this past year...It was easier to tuck behind on those cold mornings but, it put more turbulance on my helmet shield in the normal riding position, it turned out to be a give and take thing, some good some bad.

here is a picture of my viper with the chrome windshield.

That chrome windshield looks best. Cobra makes a blue chrome med. I think another ty person has one and it looks great. Not sure on the wind protection.
thanks for all the feedback. Thats the best part about this site: great people, info and ideas. ;)!

Low black on 2002 ER here...
Yeah there is a big difference in wind protection offered by the regular windshield, but cool factor is so much better.
Just remember to have good facial protection if you use a moto-x style helmet and you'll be alright. On cold nights I could feel the cold in my shoulders but that's it.

sportech/cobra makes a black and blue chrome windshield. It is really sharp, it starts off black then fades to blue. I have a low blue cobra and the wind protection is really good with handguards.

My brother has the blue crome and it looks awosme but when ever it gets down around zero he says that he gets cold so we swithch i am not sure what mine is it might be the stock. It gives great protection and it is all blacked out but i am tall enough that i can see most of the trail over the top any way. My brothers is not see through that is the blue crome one from Cobra it is the short one Here are some pics.

thanks spyderviper, the blue chrome by cobra looks awsome. I like the fade from black to blue. ;)!

Your Welcome, he likes it too it kind of sets the tone for the whole sled and it it low so you don't have to be tall to see over it. ;)!
