What studs, pattern for a stock 03 Viper

I want to stud my stock 03 Viper with stock 1" finger track. What studs, length 1.075, brand, model, double backers or single, alum or plastick?

I have heard that this track is not the best to stud due to tear through, will the double backers help?

What worked best for Michigan trail riding?

if you are worried about tear outs, definately run the double backers, and for even more protection run the double ANGLED backers, and put them up against the lugs, this will really stop them from torquing on the track under hard acceleration. I would go with either woody's or Fast Trac myself, because that is what i have had great luck with. I would probably go with the 1.175 over the 1.075 in the 1" track, but the 1.175 will put somewhat more stress on the track. This is why it also depends on what kind of conditions you ride in. I rarely ride in marginal conditions so i run a stud longer than some guys. I also don't come out of every corner punching it and spinning like a donkey. You are no faster when your track is spinning, you are actually LOSING time when you are spinning.

I read that the 1.075 was the recomend size but you think the 1.175 would be better? Will they have enough clearence in the stock setup?
 
I run this pattern and so does Yamaha Xtreme. I 've had no problems with it. The picture is from Yamaha Xtreme's machine. It corners nice and gives good straightline acceleration. I wouldn't go any longer then 1.075". I have a couple scratches under my tunnel. No big deal but it happends.

like i said, "better" depends on conditions and what you are looking for. If you ride in marginal conditions, or do a lot of track spinning (like having the incredible urge to slide the sled through every corner) than you will want to go with the shorter end of the spectrum, but if you ride trails with good snow and use your head when accelerating, then the longer ones will be fine. You know which ones i go with. They both have good clearance with 9 tooth drivers.
 
Also think about what your riding on to determin what type of support you would need ex. road crossings, ice, bear trail, or dirt?
