Whenever I think of Earth Day I think of the very first one. I was in the 4th grade and each class in our school planted a maple tree in front of the school. I was jacked up because I was picked by the teacher along with a couple of class mates to pose in front of our tree for the local newspaper (circulation 200) photographer and made the front page.
The memory remains but the trees don't. They plowed them up about 10 years ago to put in a big strip mall.
