20/40 gearing, 8BU-00 weights with 4.5 grams in the tip, 52/42 helix with a green secondary spring set at 70, bender orange primary and 12 millimeters of shims youll make the F-7 look like a kitty cat
 
thats a set-up for 600 feet but i use it to trail ride with very very agressive. youll love it with the shims... it engages at 5000 Rpm's
 
no it doesnt coil bind guys i ordered a bender orange spring and they sent me a 8mm shim and a 4mm shim they said run this together. its hits 8500 all the time. i even checked it with a tool to see if it would coil bind. after that i ordered a hauck orange spring and put all those shims in and it did coil bind. i was only able to pull 8000 i could see on the inside of the spring where the paint was rubbed off from coil binding when i used the hauck orange spring.
 
hmm, I've never tried with a bender orange, so that's possible, but I can't verify since I don't have one handy.

Bender orange is same spring rate as Hauck orange only 50 more lbs initial correct?
 
hauck orange spring is longer seems to me that the bender orange is the same length as a yamaha spring but alot more pre-load
 
That truely must be something to see on the trail! 5k engagment would make for some very interesting cornering. 12mm does work great...but if you come up against an F7 that is set up too (especially if it has a box) you are on the trailer. Trail stock to trail stock, like something you could actually ride....and go more then 90mph, the F7 going to give it to you down low but the SRX has the legs to run it down. AND, above all...your sled is not green!! That counts for something.
 
most F-7s are not set-up. people just ride them thinking they are the fastest 700 on the trail.. a 121 srx with that set-up and with that gearing will hit 100 yes that kind of set-up on the trail is pretty nuts and yea better hang on around the corners for sure. its alot of fun for me you do lose fuel economy but if your having fun who cares
 
Now wouldn't you just be reversing the situation..now the F7 is going to take you top end. 20/40 without overdrive tops out around 92mph..I'd keep that setup for grass.

Bender adjustables and the orange spring with 4mm shim in it seemed to work well (I cannot remember the helix....other then it was an advantedge). It should help the bottom end and mid without hurting top end. This setup also hurt mpg..but not too much.
 
yep... pretty much would be reversing it. it feels like an absolute rocket though. 92MPH on the trail is by far, plenty of fast for me...

i agree. its like the arguement on gearing and lug size. ill keep my 1.25" track and lose a couple mph. i dont see the big deal with a loss of 5 mph top speed on a trail sled when you can go 0-95mph a LOT faster!
 
The Bender orange primary spring is pre.1998 YXR clutch spring, it is shorter than a Yamaha spring thats why they use a 8mm. shim. The preload is also higher than any Yamaha spring(55kg.). I've used this spring with great success.

which means your buddies on other high performance sleds would have to suck some serious wind before they even caught up to you. how long would it really take??
 
well its not a totally fair race. 2001 zr 600efi and a 2002 mxz 600. on other forums the make it sound like they should be faster than me (yeah right!). on a trail with normal groomed conditions, im at least 8-10 lengths ahead by 80 mph. im also geared down a bit with 8 tooth drivers and un corrected gearing.
