Best set up for what?
Deep snow?
500' drag racing?
1000' drag racing?
Top speed lake running?
Backshifting on trails with corner to corner blasts?
There is one particular set up for each riding application & to get one of these characteristics you give up something else. clutching is a compromise...can,t have the "BEST" of everything!!!!
Stock primary set up with a w-w-w spring, 48/40 advant-edge helix, green secondary spring at 70-80 degree wrap. You might slightly overrev with that gearing but that will give you better backshifting.
Similar set up except wrap the green secondary at 60 degrees & gear down 1 tooth on top. Also remove the 3.6 gram inner rivet & replace with a 4.5 rivet. The gearing will give the sled a zippier feeling with that clutching & still accelerate and backshift well. A Dalton 53/43 will work similar to the advant-edge 48/40 so you can use that helix too.
Sorry i didn't get back turk i have a Hauck #4 clutch kit would you leave that set up in there or do yours over it.You said the w-w-w spring what is the ratio on that if you know would you spll your info
Thanks a bunch
Mike
WWW primary spring
stock 8DN-20 weights with 4.5 gram rivets in BOTH holes
Advant-edge 48-40 helix
red secondary spring at 80 degrees
This was a great overall setup that's tough to beat. It was on my 2001 SRX with transfer rods and 144 studs in the stock track. Good acceleration AND good top end. That being said - it doesn't mean it's the best setup for you. I'm in Maine where the trails are well groomed and hard packed. In an earlier post you mentioned that you're interested in deep snow. If that's the case you will probably have to make some changes. Just follow Turks suggestions and he will dial you in.
