whats the best angle/s for a viper. its currently cpr piped and head mod. vforce3s and heel clicker clutch kit. i currently have a 52/36 from RPC. we race on snow in 660' drags.
When I ran a 52 degree starting angle on a helix with that sled I found that it shifted too fast and spun out of the hole. If you find that the same thing is happening you might want to try a shallower starting angle and a finishing angle in the neighborhood of what you have right now. I'm now using a 45/39 and I like it a lot.
Hey Redsnake....don't take my word for it, ask some of the GURU's on here. I'm just sharing my experience as what I would consider a beginner clutch tuner. If you ride in a lot more powder than I do you may need that steeper helix for riding.....the trenching off the line may just be a sacrifice of what works well when riding. You can't have your cake and eat it too whith clutching. My advise to you is to PM Turk.
Any aggressive clutching will spin the track with mediocre traction. Even a shallow helix with loaded up primary weights will do the same thing. Fast upshift = need for traction. You want aggressive clutching you must have traction to go with.
Just get the sled to run at 84-8600 rpm at wot. Most set-ups that run at an optimum rpm won,t differ 1 sled length in 1000' as long as the belt is not slipping.
