I put on a bar riser last year, only a few weeks before the snow melted. I LOVE it, only a 2" rise, perfect without being ape hangars (I ride seated all day) now, the problem comes into play being that the bolts that hold it in.........one of them was cross-threaded from the factory (came out REAL hard) and I want to know how to fix it. the bolt goes in about 3/4 the way, then binds. I rigged it so it would work for the few hundred mile I rode it and just took it easy. any ideas? anyone know what tap will work? thanks for ANY tips help! you guys rock the internet world. I realize that the MOST during the summer months when I visit other sites and listen to people rag on others for their cars etc. :rocks:

I dont recall the bolt size off hand, but you will need to get a tap that matches the bolt and thread size, and run it through the hole.

anyone out there know the bolt sixe and thread of it? I am headed north in about a week and thats where my sled is. would LOVE to get it straightened out while I am there! thanks!

You should be able to take the bolt out real quick and size it and run down to the Home Depot in Littleton!!!!!LOL

true :) headed to pittsburg this year bucky? in like the nearly 3 years I have been here I have STILL yet to ride with ya :) been still thinking of leaving the viper for a polarbus?

Don't jerk around with it. My super tall PowerMadd 2" articulating base and 4" riser came with instructions to drill out the factory holes and bolt it on. After snapping off a few items in my day. I will never raise the bar without bolting through again (also make sure your steering post head is like the SXR head and re-inforced, the SRX head is nasty and will kill you if you raise it, it's a thin plate welded to the pole). IMO it's the only way to insure you will not pull the bars off when you whack the flipper or go over a nice launch. Don't forget the locktight!!!!!! I'll post some photos if I get around to it. riser

I was thinking of putting a 2" riser on my 99 SRX so I have more leg room.. is it this possible without having the bar pull through? what can be done? thanks

Yes its possible, I have 2" on my srx. If it would make you feel better you could reinforce your steering column (I did). Do a search on the forums for directions on how to do so.

Hi, I did a quick search and couldnt seem to find much on reinforcing the steering column for an SRX. Could you give some pointers on what you did? I really NEED the 2"
riser but I dont want the bars pulling loose either. Were the cables long enough and what brand of riser worked for you? Thanks much for your time.rippy

on my viper I used ROX, and I LOVE them! I am up north now with the sled, but I TOTALLY forgot to bring a tap set lol! o well, isnt the first and wont be the last tim eI forget something :)

Basically I have a piece of pipe (with an o.d. that is very close to the i.d. of the column) that is "pounded" down into the steering column and welded at the top.

I used throttle and oil cables off of a 03 mm. They were long enough for my 2" riser and bars that are 6" wider than stock.

I made my own riser, but any brand should work fine.

Nysxr700 Is Correct!!! Do Not Put The Bolts In Threaded...i Have Broke Mine 2 Times Before I Drilled Out The Holes And Bolted It...use Grade Eight Bolts Or Stainless....i Have Yet To Brake The Bolts In 2 Years Of Riding....
