Does this look familiar to anyone? Blown Viper

Thanks guys for all of the advice.. Let me say that Justin at Bender was helpful and professional on the phone yesterday. Of course they cannot always diagnose the problem. I was just hoping to hear from them that Yes they have had similar burndowns, and here is what is causing it, and here is what you should do to prevent it next time..
He did not acknowledge that this has been a problem and in fact stated that they have sold a large number of pipes with very few burndowns.. I don't disagee, they probably have... BUT I do ride as hard as the next guy and probably harder than most. However that is no excuse for it burning down, I am an engineer by profession so I am naturally pretty picky with my stuff and take very good care of it. Everything was set up just like Bender recommeded.
I really didn't get that answer.. The head mod thing still makes me curious though...
I did remove the plug from my fuel pump and raised it up so it can breathe last year... I guess that I am going to double check everything again, drain the fuel and put it back together and see what happens..
Although I have been a Yamaha fan for years, My next new sled will not be a Yamaha. I would of never put these damn pipes on if the Viper wasn't so much heavier and slower than the other brands in stock form. Thanks Again..CL :x

There was a big long thread on TY.net about this article. Do a search on it. There were some discussion as to if the article was correct or not. I tuned out after a while cause I don't run pipes. The only thing that everyone does agree on is that for some reason, (airflow, venting, jetting, port timing, ignition timing) the Viper motor does not like pipes as much as the SX did. :?: :?: :(

 I run slp's and ran them for 2500 miles, i,m not easy on the sled when it comes to long open lakes. The only thing I see different in my set up to yours is Q-O needles 3.o on E clip 47.5 pilot clutch side 15/8 middle 13/4 pto 2 1/4. hope I didn't just jinx myself knock on wood. Was up on ty ride and all the guy's know I was'nt easy on it and had same fuel mileage as one of the srx's when I compared them, I know they are different pipes instead of rich main go to needles maybe we can get back to a reasonable fuel mileage.

Well I've got 165 165 165 with needles at 3.5, 3.5, 4, pilots 47.5, 47.5, 50 and air screws at 2.5 and 300 miles on an 04 Viper S and I just detonated the mag cylinder. It blew at wot after about 1.5 miles at wot. Guess I'll hook the DCS back up.

Mattf what pipes do you run? I usually run at elevations of around 1600'.an ran this thing down to -10*no problem. What needle jets do you have in there and what other mods do you have in there?I ran this thing across a 7 mile lake and really deep snow and held it wot for half of it let off was getting scared I was going to blow then held it again for another 1.5 or so and that motor was working thru that much snow. Vents were all filled up with the white stuff.

I run CPR's. Stock needles set at 3.5, 3.5, and 4. Other than v-force 2 no other mods.

Center valve? no. it was the mag cylinder....only 300 miles on the sled, no valve problems.
