Reg gas in SRX, old topic but gas is crazy!

i own 2 srx's a 99 and 00 i run regular in my sleds all day everyday and i havent had a problem yet.i get my gas at our local cardlock petrocan and i know a guy that works there and he tells me when fills up the service stations the premium and regular tanks are filled from the same hose.

well filing both tanks from the same hose is both illegal and highly unethical, not to mention dangerous, can't wait till he gets hit with liability for a $15,000 engine blowing up.

as far as you running regular in your sleds, there yours to blow up, so go nuts.

maybe they are putting premiun (92)in both tanks.who knows maybe it is cheaper for them to distribute just 92 then to do both. because i doubt they would take chance on 87 in premium tank.sure would be nice if there was a simple test to find out.

oh yeah you are right Junior they are mine to blow up and it is probably best not to try this if you are on a budget. i have several spare engines if i do have trouble so i was willing to take a chance.

they fill the tanks from the same hose, but they switch a valve on the truck and the fuel comes from a different section of the trucks tank. the fuel trucks you see on the road arent one big tank, but instead there are bulkheads for safety and the ability to carry more than one product at a time

i know what you afre saying but the local guy i know says same same resevoir in tanker fills both tanks i am juat curious to know if this is a standard practice and we are taken for a ride everytime we buy premium or if this is a one place deal?

Either the company that fills the tanks is screwing everyone that buys gas there or the "local guy" is full of BS. Every tanker that I have seen uses one tank with a separator in it so that two separate types of gas can be carried, but they use a valve like Tombis described so that they don't need 2 hoses on each truck.

Do the math. If you ride 5000 mi. in a season and get approx. 12 m.p.g. your going to use about 400 gallons of gas. If premium costs .25 cents more per gallon thats only $100.00 more for the season. Its not worth burning a top end for $100.00 or worrying about when or where it might happen.

But here's a sobering number. 400 gallons at $3.00 a gallon is $1200.00 bucks for the season. The question isn't regular or premium it's whether to ride or not ride. $$$$$
