I own a 1999 sx 700 and would like to know a few cheap things to do so i can get a little closer to by buddies srx, All is good till we hit the lakes, then it feels like i'm towing a polaris or something.

You have a PM....
take a layer off the head gasket, run 142.5 mains all across the board, drop the needles a 1/2 pos.(meaning place both plastic shims on top of the clip),reed spacers and throw in a set of 8dn-10 weights, .8 gram rivet in tip, purple bender primary or something around a 45-50 start and a 120kg shift, 51/43 helix with green at 70-80. Your buddy will have fits with you then, it really wakes a sx up!

doesnt the silencer mod work well? I know it sounds mean without being too LOUD! nice sled, I want one as I love the low slung suspension ( I had a 97 600sx) and the blue. only thing it is missing is a nice dual bulb headlight to be the perfect trail sled

yes the silencer mod does help, and makes it sound MUCH better without being excessively loud. Really b1tches with that mod.
