If I put in a 53/43 helix and green spring in my viper, will this hurt gas mileage at all?
 
I am wondering the same thing. I have one that I just need to install. I guess it will provide more of a bottom end pull. I really can't see it burning more gas..
 
I haven't bought the helix yet, I'm kind of waiting until I hear about the MPG. I bought the spring last night though. I was told my rich motor sports and bender at the haydays that the spring alone would wake up the viper some -- thus I might just go with the spring for now.
 
no the helix won't hurt your gas mileage, if anything it should make it a tad better in the lower and middle throttle positions because the higher initial angle will put the sled in a lower "gear" ratio, and it will rev less at these throttle positions compared to stock.
 
I will either be getting a hauck, pioneer, or bender - I'm sure they are all about the same quality. I've had a hauck helix in a vmax sx that I was very happy with.

I guess if you can keep your thumb off the throttle, it should get the same or better MPG - but with the extra power, that will most likely be hard to do.

I need to be able to beat my buddies 1994 ZR700. I am also thinking about getting CarbonTech reeds..
 
Will we loose top end speed ? With a 53/43 helix and green secondary spring ? Im going to try this set up as well.
Im also installing 121 studs up the middle.
 
I'm trying to decide which helix would be best for a stock viper as well. I've also been told the 52/44 would be a good choice to maintain almost stock like backshifting.

I don't believe much will be lost on the top, but hopefully somebody else will help us with that...
 
lol, I am considering the same setup! everyone with a viper must have just read the tech sections in the last few weeks :)
 
Id rather go for the helix and spring change than heel clickers, ive heard some good thing about them but alot of bad things , such as needing lots of time to fine tune them .
