anyone else going? it is a vintage swap meet and I am hoping to grab up some parts etc for my 76 Merc Trail Twister  anyone else out there keeping the old iron going? fun to see the old race sleds on display too :) :WayCool:

thanks toydoc! hows the old sleds going? I asked you a bunch of questions a few years back now about my dads 72 thunderjet 650 :) still have the turbo cat as a trail sled? thanks for the info :)

The old sleds are going good! Your Merc T/T is looking good.

Yep, still have the turbo Cat. It's running faster every year. I made a custom intercooler for it last year. It really helped for ice drags.

wow, well done and very clean! trying to remember, is it a 97 580 efi? that your only trail sled? looking good, nice to hear from ya! oh, and dads t-jet still sits in exactly the same place it did before lol! soo busy with everything hard to get things done. he has gotten a 76 340 srx now with the factory fuel injection, as well as about 20 other old cats. think it is getting so he has more sleds than parts to fix em lol! thanks for the comments on the tt, I actually bought it for $300! thought that wasnt too bad, considering what they seem to go for on ebay and swap meets :)

I know you will have $300 worth of fun with your T/T.
The only bad part is when you start playing with them, it's hard to stop.

The Turbo sled is somewhat rare, limited prototype 96 ZR580 EFI ETT.
Handfull made and sent to dealers to show what the new 97 ZR will look like.
Also have Vmax 600XT and ZR 700 for trail.

I had to install the turbo, it didn't come with the sled.
The sled stock made 96HP at the crank.

Now it's at 86.7HP at the track. Thats with OUT the intercooler.
It should be well into the 90's at the track now.

Track Dyno Printout:
Blue: ZR580 turbo (no tuning just baseline pull)
Red: ZRT1000 big bore kit
Green: XCR 800 Hot-To-Go 180 kit

Thanks guys!
I don't know how well pics of a Cat would go over on a TY forum.
All the same to me, I like all sleds as long as you can make more HP with them!
