Couple of Questions on my '96 600 xt

How hard is it to modify plastic skis that are not for this year sled to fit this sled? Does anyone make a plastic ski mount that fits a '96?

Also, my sled smokes pretty bad. I thought I read somewhere that the oil pump can be turned down on this year. Is this true?
