I purchaced Aaen tripples for my SX700R and am wondering about installation.
Should I wrapp the pipes in heat tape?
I have instructions but they are a copy of a copy and not very clear.
Any help is appreciated.

You don't have to wrap the pipes in heat tape, it wouldn't hurt anything, would help to stabilize pipe and engines temps and keep the underhood cooler for lower intake temps, but you probably won't notice too much. Why not just get them coated if you were going to do that? looks good too. Those aaens are good pipes, and easy to install. Only thing i didn't like is the exit isn't the cleanest, and the pipes are real thin so we had a problem with one of them cracking a few times.

Wrapping might not work good for you. I have a set a Bender Pipes on my 2000 SX700r and I did try that. The problem I had was that the pipes fit so close together that the wrapping was to thick and the pipes wouldn't fit right. I tried to use a headr wrap not tape. I would take Yamaolic's advice and coat 'em. It costs a bit, but it will hold the heat a little better and looks pretty cool. Personally, I'm not sure if it even makes that much of a differance to go through all that. Just keep her pinned and the air moving through the hood will keep her cool, lol

Hey Jon,
How do you like those Aaen's.
Have you noticed any tempurature increase without the wrap.
Generally pretty cold when we sled in Northern Ontario.

Pipes

Yamyrider,

I've got no need to wrap for temp ( as far as I know ). The pipes seem to warm up quick enough, and the under hood temp stays low enough. Though it can't hurt to lower the underhood temp further. I just need to wrap for powder riding. Let me know if ever you order a bundle.

Where in Northern Ont are you?

-Jon

HI Jon,

I live in Sudbury. I am looking at finding a price for the wrap and will let you know. It would be very cheap to ship to you.
I will let you know what I find.
