I looked into chrome plating. Found out that they want 75.00 just to do a radius rod. I absolutely do not want to re-powder coat them the factory color. I have thought about line-x or simply another color... Anyone done any changes here?

$70 a arm??? I'd try a different place to get a different quote. Around where I'm at I believe you could get both arms done and not much more for $70. Sounds a little steep. also the arms aren't powdercoated from the factory. powdercoat wouldn't be commin off of em like they probably are (they are painted). You could do a $3 can of rustoleum black or silver, after a good sanding and clean job. anythings possibly, the more you spend the better it looks and lasts longer.

if you prepare them correctly automotive paint and clear are very strong. i have the silver paint code if needed.

i sure do like my crome front end though

I sprayed mine with truck bed liner last year and it worked GREAT !!!!!!!and i also had alot of people say how much they liked it !!!!

powdercoating will be about 20-40 per arm, but they will last forever or until you bend them, whichever comes first. the factory bars and arms are not powdercoated they are painted, so that means they at least need to be stripped or sandblasted (adding cost to however you coat them) bethviper is correct you need to start with a good substrate to get a good top coat. if you skip steps they will not last and not turn out good, so dont be cheap or in a hurry while prepping them. i cant stress that enough. (20 years of bodyshop experience talking) i had a set of arms chromed last year in lansing at adams plating, inc all prep for 60.00 per arm, and they look great just remember nothing else on the sled is chrome and polished aluminum doesnt come close to what good show chrome looks like. so they will look odd on your sled unless you are a super clean freak. my powdercoaters number in greenville mich is 616-754-2229 talk to pat or jim, they do awesome work. i have had alot of work done over the years there and sent a few forum users there as well. all very happy. ski

I powder coated my 800 storm front end and it only last one year in IOWA runing the fields.

I base coated/clear coated automotive silver on my 500 and it last almost as long.

I custom built plastic trailing arm and rad rod covers and they have lasted 3 years. I am about to make a set for my 01.

When I say riding the fields, we have trails that cross over alot of chisel and left over corn stock fields. Runing them is like sand plasting your sled #$%&* .

Chevy silver is almost spot on I soda blasted mine (whole front end) sanded and base coat clear coated them what a improvement!! The stock paint is absolutely worthless! Hard to find powdercoat that matches unless you do everything

anyone who has done this or anything, please post pics! I want to do something as well, but pics would aid in the decision process! btv and skidooboy, post em up! sounds nice
