My first Yami, a 2002 Viper

the hood would pop out of place where it goes up (if that makes sense, along the side of the hood) fuel pump had a tendency to freeze, and the rope would fray where it was held going into the recoil. hope that helps :)

I have a 03 and never had a rope problem. Is there something I should look for? Thanks.

Not too concerned about the rope or hood, but the fuel pump may be an issue. Will yamaha replace for free?

there was a fix for it, I think it was just to drill a drain hole, or plug something up, not totally sure though

i wouldnt seal the hole for the fuel pump fix, just unbolt the fuel pump from the chasis and take a couple of washers to get it higher off the chasis. Mine has been like this since 02 never had an issue. That hole has a purpose

isnt the hole not there on the 03 on up?? I have an 03, if there isnt a hole, it hasnt affected me lol!

I put the stock muffler back in last night, little quieter.. the stock muffler was taken out by the previous owner day one, the thing looks brand new..

The update for the rope,is that there was a little burr one the eyelet by the chaincase. All the update is a plastic gromet, in the eyelet. And they replaced my rope too.If was frayed about half way through.

What's involved with these? The shocks are self explanatory, but what are the issues with the hood, fuel pump, and rope? I just purchased an '02 and have no idea if these were done or not. I'm assuming they weren't being that it has 500 miles on it and hasn't been ridden the past two years. TIA ;)!

500 miles? What did you pay out of curiosity?

The pump and hood were a good thing to get done The shocks are up to the rider in question, ive had two friends that regreted the revalving for they are very aggressive riders so if they are not done yet i would try the sled for a bit.See what has been done with the serial # at any yamaha dealer ...
