How Many Studs To Use?

Hey guys
I was wondering how many studs would you recommend to put on a SRX 700, with heel clickers clutch kit, I’m 150 pounds, running a rip saw 1.25" track(121") was debating either 192 single/ double backer pattern or 144 single backer pattern, I don't want to over stud so I won't be able to turn, but want adequate traction. Fairly aggressive rider, RUN TRAILS AND FIELDS. The STUDS will be either 1.325" or 1.375 studs. "Any suggestions?

I would not run 192 studs, The thing about studding is that, if you over stud, there will be no pressure on the studs because there are so many. In this situation, I like to use the example of a man laying on nails, there are so many nails that none of them are applying any pressure. I would run 144 studs on your srx and try the tall washers or your studs will bend on you. I hope you followed what I meant.
 
How many?

If you ever line up and want a hole shot I suggest 192. That's what I run in my 2000 srx and it preforms really well. Do you have transfer rods? If not get some for full effect of studs. By the way I surprised a guy w/a T-cat 1000 and hung right w/ him. Too few, you lose. :rockon:
 
A lot of it depends on the type of riding you do,i have a rip saw,and no studs.I don't care for them.If your riding a lot of ice,or marginal conditions,trails,if not marginal con. then they will do you no justice.
 
WELL BOYS , LOOKS LIKE I'LL MOST LIKELY BE USING 192. I TALKED WITH A GUY FROM WOODY'S AND RECOMMENDED TO USE THE 192 DOUBLE /SINGLE PATTERN THEY OFFER, HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT PUTTING TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE STUDS WITH 144 WITH A RIPSAW TRACK(1.25”) AND DID SAY TO USE THE HIGH NUTS TO KEEP FROM BENDING THE STUD(SRX 780, 2000 SRX, ETC also said), . If I could ride without them , I would but I ride lakes and never know the snow conditions from point A TO B. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Thanks for all the posts very helpful and see how many studs others are running to get a rough idea .
 
Blue- do a search for studded 1.25" tracks because I am sure you are going to have to change out to 8-tooth drivers to have enough clearance.
 
yeah i got an 8 tooth driver gettin put in next week by the dealer and then will stud IT up,
does anybody know what chain case sprockets to use to get it back to stock gearing?

If you stud with your chassis and track you are going to have to go to the 8-tooth drivers to make enough clearance for the studs going by your front heat exchanger.
