Looking at M-10 for my SRX

Hi, I'm new to this board and would like to first say Hi.

Im looking at put M-10 in my 01 SRX, but a little history
why I'm thinking this.

Sense I got the sled I always rode groomed flat trails in NH
and the sled was great
but now I have a cabin in ME and the riding is a lot different
Sometimes we ride trails for hours that never see a groomer
or other riders. The SRX does OK, but the low rear suspension
just doesn't seem to be cutting it, & I've been bogged down
, and stuck a lot

So my questions are:
Is it worth all the time and money?
Is there any economical way around changing the rear skid
to obtain a better all around ride? (in softer, deeper snow)
Where is the best place to buy M-10? (if i got that route)
What other things would I have to change besides the skid?
Is it better to just sell it, and get a better sled? (for the conditions)

Any suggestions would be great

do a search on the M 10 and on long traveling the SRX skid, if I remember right you should find more than enough info to help you with your choices. From what my primitive mind thinks it under stands; is the M 10 is a great skid but you lose some top end. I would guess that most of the guys would recommend you long travel the skid and from what you said of your riding extend it to 136.

WOW, Great info on that search & a long travel kits seems to be a great option.

That only made more questions for me:

Is there one company that is a "one stop shopping" for the job?
Should the front shock extention kit be put in too?

Going by all those post about this subject
I get the feeling your tired of hearing it... LOL

I've got Maxximum Performance long travel on the front and rear of my SRX and am very happy with it - you have to send them your shocks, but it is worth it - part of your decission would be based on your weight and what kind of riding you do - if you are not a really big guy and don't do alot of all out "mogul mashing" I would go with the long travel set up - just my 2 cents
 
You might want to look at the Re-Action upgrade that Bender is putting together.
 
yes the reaction is supposed to be really good! i would personally not get a m10 and just get a extended track at tracks usa they have a sale goin on now so try looking them up im sure youll find a good deal
 
Best option is the Re-actoin system from Bender. Saw it at Hay Days and absolutely started to drool over it. The next $990 or so bucks I make are going for a Re-action system.
Second best option is to update your sled with some Viper revalved shocks or have your SRX shocks long traveled and revalved. You will need to get the longer limiter straps. I have a '99 SX that I put revlaved Viper shocks into last winter and it was like riding on a cloud without sacrificing handling. I can't say enough about Bruce @ B-line Control in Lindstrom Mn. His is a former Yamaha sno-cross shock tech and really, really knows his stuff. His ph# is (651) 257-0828
don't get the M-10. Its way too much $$ and hassle for the ride you will get compared to just long traveling your current shocks or putting Viper shocks in.Also, I know a couple of guys that have used M-10's and had nothing but problems with them basically falling apart.

I didnt even realize that bender was doing something like that but it sure looks like a great update....if anyone tried this I would like to hear more about how it went with the change over and ride review.

Thanks for all the help so far guys, this site is loaded with info.
I'm a little overwhelmed and having a hard time putting all together in my head.

I'm down to two choices. This RA system or the Viper shock route.
If anyone has more info on the RA system PLMK. I emailed bender today and hope to hear back soon.
Also, from what i can see, this system is on a pre order & will start being shipped in mid Oct.

Now a new question:
Now going from 7 to 11.7 in of rear travel, what's the most
economical route to raise the front end?

Is this something that may be adapted to the 94-96 VMAX 600 ST Long Track. I have it running great and just need a suspension upgrade. I want at least 2 more years out of it. Maybe more
 
May be adaptable with a little modification. I am sure I will need to some drilling. Gonna give them a call within the next couple days. I will update with info.
 
I was looking around the web & found that some of the componants
of this new RA system, look just like factory 2005 RX-1.
Could that be?
If so, that would make getting replacment items a lot more easy, right?

I talked with the guys in the Bender booth at Hay Days and they said their RA system is basically a copy of the new Yamaha mono-shock suspension. Their system has a couple of advantages over buying Yamaha OEM parts to make your own mono-shock rear suspension. The first being price and the second being a 13 position click adjustable shock. Right now the shock they offer with the RA system does have 13 compression and rebound adjustment points but, it is a one for one adjustment so the compression and rebound settings are dependant upon one another. There sales guy did say that in a few months they are going to offer a shock with 13 compression and rebound adjustment points but they will be independent of one another for even more fine tuning. The third advantage is that they provide aluminum drill jigs for relocating some of the holes in your stock rails for very accurate placement. Other vendors or the do-it-yourselfers use paper templates or a tape measure to set the position of holes which is much less accurate and leads to binding or poor performance.
The next spare $900-1,000 I have is definitely going to be going towards a new RA system with the independent adjust shock.

How can you say the reaction system is the best, when you haven't even had any seat time? pure speculation. It looks great though! Who's shocks are they? Your getting a whole suspension for the price of a set of ohlins? sounds fishy! As for the revalved viper shocks they are good, did that. Not even close to the m-10, well worth the money. When you buy an m-10 your getting proven performance that has stood the test of thousands of riders, you know your gonna get a smooth ride. I'ts like buying insurance! We have seen many skids come and go since the arival of the m-10, and more than likely the reaction will do the same. Will the ride of the reaction be as good as an m-10 maybe. Will it be better, odds are no. As for falling apart, mine is pounded constantly, no problems. Sure if you get an old skid your going to need to replace the worn parts, if you don't, your an idiot.
