What do you guys do for work??

Civil engineer

Work for the Alaska Department of Transportation - Highway Construction Division as an on-site construction engineer. Over 1000 hours of O.T. every spring - fall, but all the time off in the winter (2 months paid) for vacations and riding is worth it.

Looks like I will be starting a new job next month. Field Service Engineer for a major diesel manufacturer.
 
FLYBYU, I used to work part time a barker automotive 1/2 mile down the road. Is the plant still on west bartlett rd.? used to live in smelgin, sold my house in the getto, and moved to gods country. ice fishing and snowmobiling's all i do! Best part is no more stolen vehicles!!!!!! If i hear a gunshot it's just my neighbor pochi'n deer again.

Which DBMS and where do you live / work ? ? ?

I am a Data Management Architect (what the heck does that mean?) I guess it is what they call you when you have been a DBA (Database Administrator) for too long, and get into the strategic side of things a bit. I specialize in DB2 architecture and performance of Very Large Databases, currently on Unix systems but also on MVS/OS390/ZOS and Windows.

I work in Dearborn MI but not for Ford, although I have been there twice so far. I can see the Glass House (Ford World Headquarters) from our building too.

Yes, OnlyBlue is always offering to "fix you up real nice" should the need arise . . .

I must admit the thought did make me shiver a little bit the first time.

Going to start a metal fabrication plant for boat docks. I want to get back to actually working and get out from the desk....driving me nuts. Sucks it will be a huge pay cut at least for the first 2 years but life is too short to do something your not totally happy with.

Sort of wasted that engineering degree and I also have a MBA, so I can get a job paying over $150k but none appeal to me as much as being my own boss even at less then half the salary.
 
I am a licensed Electrician in an Industrial plant that makes food cans and ends. I work with alot of high speed automation, inspection cameras ,PLC's, 3 phase motors and drives....etc. I have an Electrical degree from Dunwoody Institute (now College) in Minneapolis.
