Considering SRX 700.

Could someone tell the main differences between all the SRX´s from -98 to -02.

I´m considering between a -00 SRX 700 with a longtravel suspension (our importer build some with the Yamaha Proaction skid with Öhlins piggypacks , so it´s all original ) and -02 SRX 700.

Help me out!

The 98 and 99 srx's were not putting out as much power as the later years (00-02) and the 2000 srx was claimed to be the fastest year. If you get a 2000 srx with the longtraveled rear, that would probably be your best option and you will not be disappointed.

Actually the 2001 is the one that holds the record for quickest 1/4 mile e.t. ever. They all rip, the 00-02s just rip a little quicker (better porting and tighter squish) The 00-02s also have the dual bulb headlight, 3D ignition mapping, split controls for hand and thumb warmers on the '01s and up, and different rear suspension settings for better acceleration. They all have junk stock tracks, '98s are worse. Great sleds, very fast, reliable, fuel efficient, handle great. They don't ride the best with the stock suspension but long travel kits rock. Hope that helps some.

The 2000 does not have the split hand thumb warmer controls. I believe this was added on the 02's and vipers.

The 2000 SRX,s were jetted a little lean over here & there was an update to go up 1 size on the main jets. Not sure on the split hand/thumb warmer on the 00,s but my 01 SRX & 01 700MM have/had em.

they started the split hand thumb warmer in 2001.

yamyrider is right, the split handwarmers started in 2001. 98-00 had the single dial to control hand and thumb warmers. None of the SRX's ever had the viper controls.

Ike - that appears to be a 2000 SRX - looks like dual headlights (2000) but still has
blue frame (silver in 2001) - my guess

ike i just picked up a 2002 srx from ecopter yesterday. man this sled is extraordinary sharp!!! i would go with an 02 srx it has the DCS on it

The brakes were also improved in -00 and a with a new brakedisc in -01...

We got the longtravel one. First ride after full service this weekend. Comparing it against my Vmax4.
