I am about to cut my rails to extend 2-1/2" for a 126" track. I know most people buy there extensions, or move the suspesion back 2-1/2.
But, I want to be different!
I am gonig to cut the tails off my slide rails 3/4" and add a duplicate slotted tail that is 1/4" stainless, using a 1/4" outside splice plate per my drawings I have attached.
What does everyone think?

Okay let me work on my picture a little bit and make it larger!
Looks like something I would do. LOL Why would anyone want a 126 inch track? Maxdlx
Well I was told it was free, so since my track is getting bad....why not!
By the way they are lazer cutting those pieces for me today or monday.

I didn't know they even made 126" tracks. What brand had a sled with 126" skid??

Why don't you move the suspension back 2 3/8"...that's what I did...so did MAXDLX. Make sure your track doesn't hit the back of your tunnel..mine did and it ripped the track.
Shortstop, the 126 was a Yamaha snowcross track. They used it in the early mono-shock sleds in the 99-00.

ya...cutting and welding seems like a big pain just to be different....paint your sled pink if you want to be different
...then move your skid back and have a way better angle of attack.

if you want to sell that track let me know pleaseeeeeeeeeeee!
Man I had that track for sale for 8 months, give it away, and look what happens. Maxdlx
I was thinking, I would rather buy new rails, then have extra holes in my tunnel. My 500 has lots of extra holes, we have tried everything when it comes to moving, jacking, extending it. Now the tunnel looks like swiss cheese!
I have the stainless coming in this week. Track is in the sled, suspension will be in this weekend.
The FREE track came with a mud flap extention. Thats installed and shouldnt have any problems with clearance.
Sorry the track isnt for sale...it was free to me with a gentalmens agreement that if madmax's sled breaks down or he hits another tree....or simply cant keep up with mine then he can use one of my sleds!

That suspension uses stock rails (at least mine does) and is just moved back in the chassis..and has large rear and upper wheels to make up for the added track length.

Ya its a mono..I took it out as soon as I got the sled..I really didn't like it for the trail. I've never tried it with a 121...I'm up to 136 now and never going back lol.
As for my wife...she is very easy on the eyes. Let em think about your chance with that....um...... NO! End of conversation!
(word for the wise...my wife comes into this site from time to time...she just might give you an earful, she is like that, very sassy! and thats why I LOVE HER
)
As for a trade with that track...If you had a 141 track and extensions, then we could talk. hehe
