i'm gonna be tryin my hand at some at home powdercoating and I wondered if there were any chemicals out there that some of you may know of to help me out. first off, i'd like it where i could just use dip tanks. like are there chemicals out there where i could dip a cylinder in and it would remove any oils from it but not damaged the cylinder walls? also, is there anything out there that will slightly etch the surface of the part so it will remove any surface deformaties such as anodizing or paint, and also leave a good surface to adhere to? also, maybe any of you out there may know whether my plan of attack is good or not. i know that a conventional oven can only fit certain size parts in it, so i was thinking that i could take like 2-4 ovens, depending on number of coils, and combining them in one large brick walled oven that is of course fire retardant and super insulated, and putting a coil on each wall so that it has even heating and then rigging them all four up to a thermostat, as well as having several other themometers to get acurate readings, so that its like a home built warehouse oven. not huge, 4x6 feet maybe. i know a guy who's an electrical engineer so it won't be a redneck firehazard jobby. its just my hopes tho. first i'm gonna try doin some small stuff with what i can out of a garage sale oven in the garage. if my stuff turns out well i might open it up to small stuff on the forum here, and not price gouge like some companies. let me know what you think!!!
