Hey guys, I removed the stock 8 tooth drivers on my 2002 MountainMax and installed a set of 9T double sided anti ratchet drivers in it's place, Now im wondering what is the Max size track I can have. Some people measure track overall height and others talk about lug height, some say 1.5" some say 1.75". Can anyone verify the max overall (track and lug) height of track I can put on this sled? I want the max I can get.
Also I heard that by using these double row anti ratchets, it may contact my rails. Has anyone else used these drivers or heard of this??
.....Thanks.....Rob

9 tooth drivers.
The stock 8 tooth set up on a MM shows a measured 3/8" of clearance between the tip of the track and the front cooler. Since the diameter is the 8 tooth driver is 6.2" and the diameter of the 9 tooth driver is 7", you will close the gap between the edge of the driver and the cooler by 1/2 the difference. So... the edge of the 9 tooth driver is .4 of an inch closer to the cooler than the 8 tooth. To maintain a 3/8" gap between the tip of the paddles and the cooler you need to reduce the paddle lenght by the same amount. In short, since the stock track is 2", a 1.5" track should work fine. Hope this helps you.

Hey ModMax, do the positioning of the drivers look ok to you? I followed MP's specs and double, triple checked it. it fits in the track fine but it looks like it's far to one side.....any ideas on when you done yours???

You are soooo right Turk. Left the way it is, it will be hard on belts, make more heat and be slow to respond. We use our MM's at 8-10k feet. Found that a 2.1-2.15 gear ratio (20/42 gears with 9 tooth drivers) works as good as any.

Checked the distance from the 8 tooth driver to the tip of the rail. Measures 3.5". Using a 9 tooth driver should not cause you grief. Found the page with the measurements for setting up the axle. Did it far more difficult that n2oiroc. I'd use his measurements.

The 1.75" track on mine has a total thickness of 1 15/16". Camo calls it a 1.75" but really it's a 1 11/16"
There is 5/16" clearance at the closest point with the stock 9 tooth drivers. 9 tooth anti-ratchet's "should" be the same diameter as stock 9 tooth's!

thanks guys, im going to go with 1.5" lug height, that should do me fine, and leave plenty of clearance........... as for weights, i got sick of buying/modifiying yamaha weights and bought a set of Heavy Hitters, easliy adjustable and my sled never ever ran as good, best money I spent so far on the sled.....( and i have spent 15 grand!!!! )
