AAEN SRX Pipes, Any good?

I am pondering with the idea of doing a little motor work and open up the ports a little for that extra power and I was wondering what you guys thought of AAEN pipes and if they were any good. I don't want to sacrifice topend at all and I was wondering if they would benefit porting a little better then the stock pipes do. Let me know

From what I understand is that the stock pipes are the best route. I haven't heard of aftermarket pipes hurting the srx (just the aftermarket cans), but i do know that the AAEN's save quite a bit of weight I believe. If your gonna do some agressive porting it may help out some. Or it could help out a lot later on when you bore it out ;)!!!
 
I can't ramember but I believe my buddy made less hp on the dyno after aaen ported his srx and put the pipes on.
 
Hey, what's up? Just like sxviper32 said stock pipes are your best ride. I talked to a yamaha dealer [ Knapps Yamaha] out of Prescott Ontario just the other day about porting my srx and he said best to leave it alone and keep it bullet proof as is. I didn't know that cans could hurt. Guess I won't do that after ad on. :ORC
 
Aaen pipes work well, especially if you're gonna port it. Make sure they have the bigger stingers in them, they came 2 ways, but if you're getting new ones they should have the bigger ones. Best advantage is they take like 20lbs, out of the front of the sled. Clean up the ports, don't get crazy on them, 2degree advance key, run it at 86 to 8700, call it good.
 
OOP's you know I didn't even notice who posted that, just answered it. I your case, maybe you should give it the 1/4 port job, 1/4" up one the ports and 1/4" off the heads. Then polish the inside of the motor like you did the out side. Good thing about Aaen pipes is they are easy to get chromed........and there is a set here hanging out back. Used to run them on that sled I beat you up with last year (no not the 500 the other one)

If your buddy had the early pipes that was the problem. When I got mine it would accelerate way better, get to like a 100 on the speedo and fall on its head. When we figured out what was wrong Olav put bigger stingers in, took it back out rejetted it and it would wrap the speedo.........
 
I didn't think you noticed it was me when I posted, otherwise you would have made a comment about your special sled that beat my stocker by 3 mph top end. You may have to bring out your other special sled this year so you can beat me because I don't think that same one last year will finish the job. Just keep an eye in that working log forum lol. Thanks for the information though, I hadnt heard much about them.
 
Yeah maybe you'll just have to feel the wrath of that old bone pogo stick, its way faster than that bomb I pounded ya with last time. Your worst nightmare just got worse. What are you doing up so early?????????Next time we go we'll have someone start us so I don't have to make up for the, go on your nod after you pull the trigger start.

I have a set of aaen pipes on my 98 srx, how do I tell which stingers are in them. They were on it when I bought the sled and the guy I bought it from said they were on it when he got it, so they are probably five years old or so. :yam:
 
You have to measure the inside diameter of them, actually it may have been the stingers and the silincer pipes.

Pogo sticks? No its not a V4 its a 500, summer of 94 I took the motor and planted it in the ground, when I dug it up it had grown an extra cylinder..........
