1st time I have ever been to the Hastings Snow Show. That was one large swap meet. To bad I could not find any RX-1's. The drags were awesome! Check out the video of a SRX smoking everyone! http://media.putfile.com/MVI_1891
Nice to meet you MIVIPER!

Hey,

I was in the swap as well, had the piped 136 Viper there. sorry I did not get to meet you. The swap meet was only half its normal size on Saturday, Sunday there was only a small handfull of trailers. Usually they sell out completely.

On another note and In my honest opinion for which I am sure to get flamed over, We have 2 sanctioning bodies going head to head on the same weekend driven by ego's. Unfortunatlty it was the spectators the swappers and the racers that paid the price for this poor decision.

Hastings/MSA will always draw a certain amount of racers as will Martin but fact be known there are simply not enough racers to support this split and we the genaral public payed the price. The public that will always attend Hastings were never aware of this contraversy, they showed up to Hastings not only the racing but for all of the venders and the swap as well, unfortunatly most left disapointed in the turnout and had no idea why.

We had friends racing and did very well winning quite a bit of money in the Pro Stock classes (cash not coupons) and it turned out into a nice payout for most due to the dilluted racer turnout. I will not sit here and say that the race was perfect in any way but simply stating that running a competative race on the same weekend hurts the sport and the spectator much more than it will ever effect the Yankee Zepher people that put on the Hastings race.

Once again this is only my opinion but set the ego's aside and run that races on back to back weekends and let the general public decide what race they wish to attend. The whole thing just pisses me off as well as the people that have no concept of really is going on behind the scenes.

Piss pour decision IMO. Let the games begin!

I went to Hastings on Friday and left to go to Martin Saturday. In my opinion, the Hastings show has been going down hill for the last couple of years and probably won't come back. All the racers I've spoke to are much happier running at Martin. I had alot more fun at Martin than at Hastings this year. I'm thinkin in a few more years Hastings will be extinct, its too bad really, Martin is a further drive for me, but worth it in my opinion.

Master,

I suppose it will be fine if Martin race actually picks up where Hastings may have failed, but I really don't see that happening at least in the short term, ecspecially with MSA snowshow backing Hastings. I am not a racer but simply a fan of the sport in general and for all of the bull&hit being thrown from both sides of this I really want to hear the real reason behind running the same weekend?? what was the motivation?? Once again IMO it was all about ego's and it is a shame that this fine sport has come to this. The only people it hurts is the general public that attend these races, which brings up a point where would the sport be with out us? how much contingency money would these big sponsors really spend coupon or otherwise if the fans are not there??

There where fans that drove countless miles to attend an event such as the Snowshow that did not have the benifit of a few online that knew of the other race. "Disapointed" was the word most spoken, when discussed that there was another race within a half hours drive the common response was "why the hell would anyone do that??"

Put the politics behind you and concentrate on retaining a great tradition wheather it be Hastings, Marten, or wherever. You are hurting the sport much more than helping anything but filling someones pockets.

I will climb off my soapbox now!

Courious, how was the swap meet Martin?

The swap meet in Martin wasn't much, it was really based on the racing, so I see your point, I doubt that the MSA is going to move their show to Martin, so Hastings will probably live on, which is fine by me. Any chance I get to be around snowmobiles, and I'm there.

The story I get is this, last years racers weren't happy with YZRP (racing promoter) Many of them vowed not to race at Hastings again, they called for a change to be made. PSGDRA backed the racers request, thus Martin was created. It would be nice to see all the big racers at one place again, BUT, having grass and asphalt at the same place is really cool. Most of the big names will not return to Hastings to race, and are very happy with the Martin turnout, so I believe it will continue to grow from here on out. It will be interesting to see where the chips fall. This is what happens when people driven by $$$ instead of the love of the sport are put in charge, it's sad really.

the hastings show race promoters (yankee zepher racing productions) had a falling out with the racers. promises broken many times over many years and way over charging the racers who put on the show. the racers pay to get into the gate, then a pit pass then a hot pit pass and a camping fee and trailer parking in the pits. fees on fees on fees. then when they are promised cash pay out they got gift certificates that are not cash. that was the big facade. the show and the race although run together are seperate entities. the pomoters bought their own sanctioning body this year, due to the falling out with the sanctioning body the racers have. they didnt have them the same week to "compete". the nsdra asphalt guys were setting up a demonstartion event and the psgdra opted to go with them vs the bs with yzrp. the consumer was caught in the middle but the yzrp figured the confusion in their adds stating grass grags races in big bold letters on banners and signs would get you in the gates. he knew all along the larger sanctioning body and the main "pro racers" if you will, were not going to be at hastings. hoping the uneducated public would not know or care after they arrived on site. sx it's all about promises, greed, and ultimately lies. there are two sides to every story and the truth lies between the two and what you can make of those stories. the racers are the show, and they only want the promises kept and be treated with respect. i am not a racer i am just a fan. i know many racers past and present. they just grew tired of the lies. the track and facility are great at hastings. but the bs was too much. my .02 ski

Ski, Master,

Understood and thanks for the response, I have heard all of the BS floating back and forth as well it just gets under my skin that this stuff even goes on it is all about greed.

I totally agree with the "fee happy" hastings situation , hell I could not take a leak without some sort of arm band or hand stamp it seemed. That MUST be rectified in order to succeed.

I just see this thing escalating and drowning the cool sport that it is. Remember MSDRA was once the powerhouse here and now they are long gone!!
