Hi,
I wanted to do 'one thing' to my sled this winter (2004 Yamaha Venom 600). I don't care for more top end horsepower (I can get 100mph now so I don't need more), but I would like more acceleration getting to 100mph. I was thinking that 'triple pipes' would do the trick but someone said that they would give me mostly top end speed and minor acceleration. Someone else mentioned that 'V Force Reeds' would give me more acceleration (which is what the V Force Reeds are intended for) but not much top
end horsepower. Also clutching is something to think about as well.
So I'm leaning towards V Force Reeds, but does anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
Roger.

some say that reeds dont work well without pipes and stuff. after i put tripple pipes on my sx and then the reeds they made a real noticable gain. also the pipes and clutching made my sled accerate a lot lot faster then stock. ive seen ppl fall off my sled backwards. i say pipe and clutch it if u can afford it.reeds later.

beat me dave...wish i had both arms to type with lol!!
V force reeds is pissing away $$ on that sled. Get the clutching dialed in...huge diff on the 600 triples.

I agree with Turk, a clutch kit is the cheapest and one of the easiest things to do to your sled.

dont buy a ready to go clutch kit...seek the advice of the clutch gods on this site. Pipes and clutching as said and you would see a big difference.

turk, with the setup you suggest on the clutch chart does the 600 tripple engage harsh? it is my fiance that will be riding the sled and I dont want it harsh. smooth but more efficient is really what I am looking for. seems you have to smoke the belt to get it rolling. I also can not remove a layer of headgasket or anything motor wise. just clutching as it is actually my fathers sled that he is letting her ride since it is the spare. any advice?
Just add heavier rivets to get rpm,s down...cost ya about $10. Gotta know what wide open rpm,s are now from start to finish & for less then $10 that thing will see big gains & feel very smooth & stock engagement.

what are the rpm supposed to be at? thanks!

wow, already gets there pretty well.........what can I do? would it be real harsh with the setup listed in the tech pages? is there a better setup without touching any of the motor or carbs? thanks a lot, great help!

Speed ring and go up a few teeth on the lower gear or down a few on the upper. Yamahas Primary clutch leaves alot to play with

the stock weights with a little more weight work just fine on that sled. Get it around 8500 and she'll scream. I clutched an '01 vmax 600 delux this spring and it revved 9,300 with all the stock equipment in the clutches. Talk about a factory overrev!

my wifes 03 VMax was the same way. Big time over-rev right off the show room floor.

Come on...the Venom will do 100 mph stock. I am doubting that.

the sxr 600 and 2 vmax 600's we have all do about 100. all the same motor
8AB weights and a 51/43 helix and go down 1 tooth on the top gear
