When installing piston pin clips do you position them any certain way??

I know you do not want the clip opening to meet the little opening in the piston but what about putting the opening in the clip eiather on the up side or the down side???

Thanks,
Tod

K - thanks

I always bend the old ones when removing so they dont somehow get mixed up....... its just been several years since I have had any motor apart.

ya reusing old clips will come back to bite you in the ***, one of the most impressive Vmax-4 motors I've ever seen died that way, the owner did a top-end himself and reused the clip, it pitched a piston at 3/4 track and sawed itself up pretty good.

when doing a honda spree one time I heard the clip go fliying and I swore I heard it land or hit something on the other side of the shop.........well on my test ride I found it ----- it did go into the bottom end and ruined the new cylinder and piston...........

My bad,

yup, that hurts, always sucks when it all comes crashing down over a $0.10 part.
