Found a sno-scoot for $800 in really good shape just wondered what they are worth?

Saw 2 of them at swap meet today. The guy wanted $2800 for one of them and $1900 for the other. (I think his parents must have dropped him on his head when he was young!)
If it is in fair shape I would say thats a reasonable price. They have several models, electric start, 80cc, and I think maybe a 100cc? I would guess the electric start would be the most valuable.

What a coincidence that you'd post this. I specifically just came back to this site to post a Sno Scoot question.
I'm simply astounded by the price people are paying for these machines. While I'd love to have one right now just to sell at an inflated price, I guess if folks are willing to part with their money by paying just a bit less than what it went for new 15 years ago, then more power to them.
What's really amazing is that Yamaha had a super successful line-up (All the Enticers; 250,300,340) that will do circles around the SnoScoot series at a fraction of the cost. I picked up a mint 300 a couple years ago for $400 and it's an extremely fun machine to ride. It's also a very common sled so parts are quite easy to find.
So, back to your question, yes $800 is a good price. But there are much better kid sleds out there for a lot less dough. If I were you, I'd snag the Scoot for $800, turn it around immediately for the outrageous price they're normally getting (around $1300-$1500), and use the profit to get a much better Enticer for $400 to $500. Doing this will get you a sled for your kid for nothing.

My son is ten and he is riding a phazer but my daughter is six so just thinking about putting it in the garage with the rest of the toys. Thanks Jason

Roy,
Any of the Enticers are/were great sleds. I'd opt for any of the twin cylinder models; 300, 340, or go with the Exciter 440. These sleds are bulletproof and there are lots of them out there for next to nothing. You can find nice ones for under $600 and most will be less than that.
Just be patient and check around.
