SRX clutching

OK, I have a '01 SRX 700, it has 144 studs, bender can and long traveled rear suspension. The rest of the sled is stock.
I need some clutching advice to help me beat my friends ski-doos ( I am the only Yamaha )
I do most of my riding on groomed trails and somtimes some powder cutting trails through fields.
I was thinking of:
stock weights with 4.5 in both holes
w-w-w primary spring
either the red secoundary spring @80deg or the green one @ 60deg
and I am not sure on what helix to use. I can get a 54/42 or a 48/40. Would either of these work well or what else should i use?
I was all so thinking of droping down a tooth or 2 on the top gear. How much top end will i be losing ??
 
load the stock weights, stock primary spring, green secondary with the 54/42 should be close. Run it at 8450 rpm
 
That helix will work fine, nothing wrong with a 70* wrap. I wouldn't gear down more than one tooth on top unless you are really heavy and ride tight a$$ trails, or unless you are dragging short distances.

I had this setup from "Turk" in my 01 SRX and it went like a raped ape!
 
Hey Vice did you lose any top end?
I am mostly looking for harder accerleration. That set up from Turk is about what i want to do. I was a little concerned about the helix though.
 
I gained top end and acceleration because it kept my motor at the proper RPMs better than the stock set-up. It's a great over all setup that ran better than stock in any situation I used it in.

As for the helix - keep in mind that a 48-40 Advant-Edge helix is a differnt cut then other brands. It's much more aggressive then the numbers indicate.

advant-edge helices are just cut more aggressively than their numbers indicate, gotta add about 4-5 degrees to initial and 2-3 to final to get the equivalent of other manufacturers.
