This questions is for anyone who has installed an expert x suspension.....If you are using the inside plates why do you need the outside plate? yamaha mounts only have inside plates. i recently bought a used viper with no inside plates and everything looks fine, so that got me to thinking to either try and mount the big on the inside of the tunnel or just use the 4 small plates. what do you think bad idea or good? let me know.

i just wanted it to look more stock and have the nice polished tunnel. i think the bracket takes away from the shiny tunnel even when its polished.

you'll lose half of your support without them. I have the expert on my SRX and wouldn't even think about not having the out side on it. I'm not familiar with the install on the viper but they have to almost be identical.

Plates on the inside

You can put the thick plates on the inside of the tunnel if you want. I have done it w/ no problems on two sleds. You just have to have your spacers cut 1/8" to maintain the proper tunnel width after it is all bolted together. You should still use the stainless steel plates they provide too......the soft aluminum can scuff and wear if the plates are not there (been there done that). If you are doing this you may want to scrap the plates they provide alltogether and have your own cut out of 1/8" aluminum.....that way you can run them further toward the front of the sled to help tie in the bulk head with the tunnel. This will help stiffen up the entire sled. Here is a photo of my sled w/ an MPI tunnel.......notice, the plates are on the inside ;)! . Let me know when you get those 136" extensions........you are the guy I sold them to right?

Sled not sold

Holic, I was thinking about selling the sled but it looks like I will be keeping it for another year. I never found the sled's full potential so I am going to give it another shot this year. However I will say this, EVERY sled I have is for sale!!! ;)!

Matt, i rec'd the extensions thanks they look good, i have one question though is there only supposed to be one bracket that attach the ext to the rails. thats looks a little weak. how solid is this?

It's solid

Yes, only one plate per extension. Put them on the inside of the rails and tighten it all up. Believe me when I tell you that I have tested it........it is solid.......you cant break it........trust me. ;)!

Must be the mountain peformance or hartman extensions hey? With the plate bolting the extensions to the rails? Doesn't look as sturdy as the tracksusa extensions, those are awesome.
