checkmate yamaha......... they are just lining up the pieces and it a few years they will be way ahead in the 4 stroke department when everyone else will be tring to catch up. WHO needs more than 120hp for 99% of there riding, if so just bolt a turbo on and watch the numbers climb WAY north of 170hp
What a let down, but hey I expected it. Its my cash and im taking it elsewhere. Im a ditchbanger and they didnt deliver. They wont sell enough sleds this year to fund any R+D in the future. All you non beliving ditchbangers go ride a rev or a firecat youll see what were talking about. now if i could only find a sucker to buy my "Mogual Munching My Ass" viper! There is noway I would buy into yamahas propaganda on a "NEW" model without test driving.
You dont need more than 120HP, but for gods sake lighten em up!! Put in a new suspension!! Fun Meters are based on HP/Lbs and these sleds are way way out there. Like driving a suburban with a 4cyl.

Just a matter of time till I own one of those new 2 ups . It is exactly what I want .
I have no doubt that the sleds will be of high quality and first rate but did they have to give them such GAY names? Vector?? Rage? STUPID!!!! How about a Vmax or SRX??? Why do they need to keep changing the names on their sleds? Stick with what is known!!!! I've got a Viper and think that is a cool name but why stick SX in front of it?
Vector sounds like a retarded kid's name...
Rage is just plain gay...
Get with the program Yamaha. And I agree with the majority here why not pump out a sled with more ponies?? Everyone else does and a lot of people buy them. I have been a long time Yamaha guy but their surprises just don't impress me anymore. What they needed to do was bump the base HP of the RX1 up. I just read a shoot out against the the other 3 manufacturers and it was embarassing to say the least.

I got some heat for the retarded comment I made in the last post. Sorry if I offended anyone. But you get the gest of what I am trying to say. I own nothing but Yamaha stuff, Bike and sleds and they provide a reliable product. It just seems they are always the last to come out with something good and by the time they do, everyone else has already come out with something better. Maybe not as reliable but better. I don't know what they are afraid of, they make fast reliable motorcycles. Why can't they make snowmobiles just the same?
The SRX was probably their best product and they pulled the plug on it. just don't get it.

whats in a name
the names of a machine mean nothing,it is the performance and handilg and the reliability of the machine that means everything! i think someone needs to grow up here. do you by a product cause it has a cool name?
i have some ocean front property in vipereville for sale! Tongue in cheek

I hate when people make assumptions about products before they are even released. How do you people know that these new sleds arent fast and the rear skid doesnt work?
YOU DONT!!!
BTW, yamaha did not relese any specific numbers for the horsepower of these sleds, they simply stated that it is a 120 horsepower class engine.
actual hp
srx, I thought the same thing with the 120 hp class statement, but do you think Y wiould round up or down?? Also, if you read the details(dont kame assumptions) on the spec page it clearly says 120hp.
I didnt hear anyone say the rear skid sucks, (I may have overlooked), but I think the generalized complaint is no ditchbanger. Again, no individual is saying the fit finish & reliability are poor, but just not what they want. Heavy 4 stroke is not what i had in mind---I'll change to 4 stroke (hesitant, but I'll do it) but I dont want to wrestle another 100 lbs around. (The real weight of a rev 800 is about 485, and the NEW RX1 real weight is about 590 based on Y claim of reduced wt. This is an example in the 140ish hp class..These weights were listed last year NOT by the MFG)
If you are a "sunday cruiser" you have the perfect sled IMO.
My goggles are not blue, yellow, red or green tinted, but I have had Blue for 25 years, and tired of waiting for a ditch banger.

This does not surprize me at all. People don't understand technology and they have to put it down....you guys probably say your computer sucks when you can't get it to perform properly...is all your VCR's still flashing 12:00. It's easier to say it suck rather than understand it, try it and learn about it. Talk to someone who was lucky enough to be on the test rides for the 05. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH to know someone that rode the 05. He said the pulling power is great through the whole power band. I don't know what planet you guys are from but these new sleds are beeting the REV's on every run. The new skid is apperently unbeleivable for comfort and hadling. None of me VCR's flash 12:00. I own a DVD and not 8 track. Get with the times guys. These new sleds will out perform, outlast and cost less on fuel and oil then any other sled.
DID YOU KNOW there were 130 improvments made to the RX Warrior.
Yamaha is catering to a much more suffisticated group of riders.

some of you guys amaze me, you keep crying foul every year, well just go get that cat or po or rev what ever you want, just do it and shutup. you think the zr800 is so awesome and yamaha;s under powered sleds cant touch them. my stock 120hp viper runs right by in 1000 feet. a little clutching and yamaha runs with any of them maybe behind some maybe in front of some. but the yamahas that i ride with just run everytime out. that means alot to me.

05 sleds
I think what yamaha did with the 05 sleds should have been done to the 04's, not much was done from 03-04, and if it would have been done then, we'd be alot more advanced.

Hmm, you reading my mind? "I THINK" is the key word to this whole thread. People need to stop thinking, analyze all makes and models and buy what is right for them, and stop whining about what one company is doing to fit THEIR niche! Some people need an education on business, if this is this companies opinion on where IT wants to go then so be it. Don't just look for 2006 look for 2010 also. Why keep redesigning? when you can do it now and build on it. Meaning lightening them and such. I would rather be 50# heavier if it means I have the same quality THIS manufacture has had in the past. Doesn't mean I am sold on the new ones, it means I have an open mind, to what everyone offers. And base my purchases such forth. 99% of the time it comes down to quality and reliability...... There's my "I THINK"

I've got no problem with the names..Now if the called it the "Gerbil Hauler" or "Anal Stimulator" now those would be gay names Plus to reuse the Viper or SRX moniker wouldn't really work because the sleds are totally different.
