I was at the local Yamaha dealer today and they had a new Nytro in the back that they had just put together - pictures do not do the sled justice - it is really awesome - I didn't realize that the flames on the hood have skulls in them - the fit and finish is impeccable - sat nice too - come on snow!

the nytro is going to be a sleeper in what way? It is built for quickness, has nothing for top end, and has a vector engine in it. Yea it will have some bottom end grunt but a sleeper? Definately awesome through the bumps though.

Its going to be a sleeper as far as the bumps.
Granted, it wont have great top speed (Im guessing that 90 mph will be all its got), but Im sure it'll take off very quick off the line.
Cap'n

A sleeper up to 80mph possibly. I hear it's geared very low so it should be rabbit quick not cheetah fast. It won't have long legs and it was not designed to do so. Why do you think them 440 race only doo's/cat's beat some well setup SRX's to 90 mph by 4 sled lengths. It's all gearing and lightweight. 80 - 90 is about all they will do but man are they fast getting there. I read somplace that is has a bit more drive line noise due to the lower gearing. The guy was complaining about the noise he heard. I can't wait to try one. They do look like a lot of fun.

EDIT: The quote on the noise came from my AMsnow Nov. 2005 test write up on the Nytro. Bassett wrote, "I also was dissapointed by the lower gearing and subsequent greater engine noise from the Nytro -VS - the RTX. The youth might like the mechanical symphony but I'll take a little smooth jazz with my Genesis 150, thank you". Doug

It just looks like a sweet sled to "play" with - clutching, gearing, turbo? - if they were to put the Genesis 150 in it, it would sell like hot cakes!

i saw it at a local dealer also, sweet looking sled, love the decals, would like to get the same on my max

ya it's a sweet sled, but it's hardly a sleeper, to me a sleeper is something that looks plane and will eat you up, flames and skulls are not befitting of a sleeper, and neither is a 120hp engine, it's a good sled for what market? the ditch bangers? 'cause it's a far cry from the rev600 or the F7 in that regard, as both of those are lighter/faster not to mention ride and rider position.

it's a cool sled to be sure, but it's outdone in it's class, and it's to expensive to really be considered entry level.

I have to agree with Junior, I think the Nytro is a sweet sled, but I still don't think I would call it a "ditch-banger". The mags have been saying that the Nytro bottoms out too easily. I know we all take what the mags say with a grain of salt but.......if I were buying a brand new ditchbanger it would be a F7 no doubt. I won't have make that decision anytime soon though as I couldn't see dropping $9K on a sled with the winters that we've had here lately.

I thought the Nytro was dirt cheep? The list is $8,699.00 that means they are selling for around $7600.00. A new F-6 is over 10,000.00 and a new 600HO DI X Doo is over $12,000 USD on the BRP web site. That makes the Nytro a good deal. Doug

12099 canadian, whereas the nytro is listing at 12099 canadian, general basis (in my experience) dealers are more willing to deal on the doo's than they are on the 4-strokes, F6 I can't speak form as I never looked into it.

Rev for me, but everyone gets the point I'm sure, Nytro is a cool sled, but I wouldn't shell out my own coin for it.

I like the REV's also but I feel that the REV chassis would be to far forward for me since I'm 6' 2" and have long legs....I could be wrong though. I definitly wouldn't turn down the chance to ride one. ;):D ;)!

It sucks being tall in terms of snowmobiles and motorcycles because the manufacturers are building them around average height riders. :o|

lol I know what you are feeling, i'm a little over 6'4" and let me tell you yamahas are not intended for riders that tall in stock dress. About the rev, I've had quite a bit of seat time on one because my cousin has one, and after i got used to it i could make that baby rock on the trails. It is a little hard to sit back and just cruise on it, but it is not uncomfortable at all, even with a 36" inseam ;)!

2x what he said, oddy enough including the height and inseam, which is actually kinda creepy

I could deal with the older stock yamaha's just by basicly standing at the back and leaning into them, and had to get my knee out, or my foot back when I was cornering to keep the bars from clipping the knee, sounds alot harrier than it actually was, usually worked very smooth.
