I'd clean them up a little better than that.But then again I tend to be a little anal.

I took mine right off, soaked them in Solvent 4 about 2 beers , Then sprayed Brake cleaner on them. Then to get the last little bit off warm soapy water and 1000 grit wet paper, and gently wet sanded them ................they come out like brand new. Of course you might not want to pamper your Favorite Yamaha like I do.
My Wife gets Very Jealous, of the way I treat all my YAMAHA's........Drives her nuts
Cleaning off the crud off my buddies pipes was way harder.

I just get the big gunk off and clan them til they are smooth. That is all that really matters.

I scrape the thick junk off with a razor blade and the i spray them real good with carb cleaner and scrub them with a scotch brite pad,they come out like new.

I clean 'em the same way as Blueblooded except i use brake cleaner instead of carb cleaner.

I also make sure that all the crud is off of them and scrub with scotch brite pad and break clean… just don’t loose your pencil eraser in the motor like I did….
On a side note, do you guys normally replace the gaskets each time you clean the power valves or are the reusable the first few times? I'm about to clean mine for the 1st time.

hmmmm.......I never thought of that I've been reusing mine.I guess if you notice a leak,then replace.

Yea i always reuse them until they leak. Only had a leak once
