Greetings, For those of you who ride wearing Moto style helmet and goggles, I have a problem. I currently wear Scott turboflow with blue lenses, but need a darker lense for those sunny days. I realize the sunny days are few and far between; but my eyes, over the last couple of years, have become highly sensitive to bright light. The sensitivity is severe enough that my eyes will tear up from the glare and I have a hard time keeping them open.

I found a duel lense from Smith called Sol-X that only transfer 15% VLT (visible light transmission), but they've discontinued them as of last year. I've searched everywhere to no avail. The other smith lenses just aren't dark enough.

Does anyone have suggestions? I haven't looked into Oakley, Spy etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, I've also tried sunglasses but they just fog. Not sure if tearing or fogging is worse, but both are extremely dangerous.

I rode all last year with the Scott OTG goggles with the amp blue lenses. I found the tint on these to be adequate plus they have the built in breath guard. I picked them up from Shadetree....

I re-read and see you already have the amp blue. I have a friend that rides with yellow shooting glasses and swears by them. He says they really define the terrain better than the darker tints and are easy on the eyes.....maybe worth a shot to try and find some yellow lense goggles.

Anyone try or use the pro-vue prescription goggles???

I know i'll be gettin these spy goggles with the polarized orange reflective lens shown last. theres no alternative for the reflectives, unless its at night. at night i switch out to the clear lens tho. but in the day that sun reflects from allover on that white stuff like crazy. imo i'd do reflective

Hey guys, Thanks for the information. The Spy's look like the ticket. Do you know how they fit using a breath deflector?

YS

what kind of deflector? I've had quite a few different ones, as long as they don't go past your nose then ya they work. its pretty much a given that the breath deflector is designed with goggles in mind and vice versa, so thats not a prob at all

I recieved a sponsorship form spy this year. they sent me a trial pair as I had never seen them. didnt fit well over my glasses and they seemed alittle to long to fit into my helmet. could all just be ME, but I sent them back

SXViper, The deflector came with the helmet. It's an HJC cl4s or something to that affect. The scotts don't quite seal properly using the deflector. Frost bite is a concern without the deflector on those really cold days. Taping the vent on the front helps, but taping susceptible areas on my face is a pain.

well no matter what with goggles, the skin will always be left exposed on a open face style helmet. if you wear an open face helmet, your going to need some kind of face mask like the one pictured below. there are many different types and styles, i mean A LOT of styles to fit your needs, you'll need one of those in order to make it work with an open face helmet.

That Txtmoto mask looks nice. Yamaha also has a couple of nice ones.
Ive got a Z1R Roost MX helmet that doesnt have a breath guard and Im going to end up buying the mask on the right pretty soon.
For the past few winters Ive ridden with a baclavia with a beak/roost guard to keep my nose from getting cold. Im going to try the mask on the right (No-Fog mask) and Im going to ditch the beak and see how that works.
The one on the left is the "Extreme mask", but I think the mouth hole on it would cause my face to be a little bit colder than with the No-Fog mask.

I've been riding with Pro-Vue goggles for the past 2 or 3 seasons. I think they're great. Much better than fogged glasses. Give them a try! ;)!

The blue lens are for better night vision , day time sun goggles are the amber color , scott has a new goggle out that has a built on nose piece for added protection , If i dont get the head sock on perfect , my temples get hit with the cold and ice. , if i were you i would take your helmet with you and go try some on to see what fits best with your style helmet ..

Dahm those SPY goggles are SWEET !!!!

I wear the Smith sno warps w/blue lenses, nose guard and wind proctector along with the Doo Mtn. mask. I ditched the deflector that came with the HJC helmet (does not seal very well). This combo creates a perfect seal with no air gaps.

I believe Smith makes tinted lenses as well.
